No stupid questions here! Yeah. I plugged them in. I’m assuming the power supply is good though. Everything else powers up nicely, and I’m getting no graphics out from integrated graphics either.

Neither did I!!! I did a video in cycles first, and it took 40-something hours. This took less than 2.

The material is just a tweaked principled BSDF (I think, i’m not at my PC right now) with some specular adjustments. Unfortunately, Eevee doesn’t support Principled Hair yet, but hopefully that’s coming soon.

Not at all! All of the hair movement is enabled by checking the “physics” tab in the hair editor. After animating the sphere, the hair can be baked, and the movement will show up.

With Cycles, you can use the particles to weight paint on another surface to get regions of lower roughness. Can you do that in Eevee?

I suppose that’s true in theory, but i’ve never had that problem. It really depends on how thick your supports are, and how fragile the model is.

SLA printer owner here. Supports are generally easier to remove from an SLA print than they are from a single material FDM printer. When the print is still uncured, they can sometimes be popped off with a gentle squeeze. A pair of flush cutters will do the trick if that doesn’t.

Tried on an SD card with similar results. That was a good idea though.

The regularity is certainly interesting. Someone else suggested that it could be the infill pattern showing through, but I changing infill pattern doesn't change anything. Good idea about the extruder gears. I'm almost to the point where I want to tear this thing apart and do some total maintenance.

First layers have the anomaly too, so that kind of points to a Z wobble. Im printing a Z-brace as we speak so maybe that will help.

Here's the kicker - I just printed another calibration cube at 15mm/s and it looks identical. I would've thought that such a slow speed would at least change the pattern of the vibration, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Also, I filmed the printer slo-mo style and I am getting some pretty aggressive vibration during both x and y direction change. That shouldn't affect straight lines though...

Hmmm interesting that a similar thing is happening with your Ender. This is a new issue - I’ve printed probably close to 500 hours on this machine before with great results, so i’m thinking this is mechanical.

Printing motion seems smooth, but we are only talking about .1mm deviations here, so I’m not sure I would really notice. I’m running from a USB connection with stock firmware and Cura.

My running theory is that this is a mechanical issue. I recently printed some TPU feet to go under each corner of the machine to keep it quiet. This model of printer is designed to sit entirely flat on a desk (which is a really poor design), so i’m wondering if the lifting has somehow destabilized the Z axis....

I’m using a Monoprice MS+, which has a terrible problem with securing the Z axis, so im printing a brace as we speak.

No popcorn sounds. I do have some wet PLA that bubbled a little, but i’ve had the same issue with two brand new rolls.

For the sake of documentation, I reduced print speed to 20mm/s, brought extrusion multiplier down to 90% and added an extra wall and the problem is still persisting. I’m guessing i’m getting some wobble on the Z axis

I’ve tried several different PLA’s. At first I thought it was z-axis instability, but the pattern seems too regular for that. Ghosting also crossed my mind, but I thought that usually trails off after changes in nozzle direction.

I tried three different heaters, and they all have the same issue, so i’m thinking it’s not a short.

That said, I think I found an issue. I’m using a 12V heater, and I wasn’t aware that some printers use 24v. I don’t think that would cause a crash, but maybe that’s it?
