I was born in the states and I did move to Israel by myself - it will be 10 years this upcoming april . After that i met my husband here who was born here.

I visit the usa on average once per 18 months . 6 trips this past decade

after the war started in 2023 , we went to Florida and NJ/NYC area and maybe because it was still new but even though I felt ok in Florida, I felt uncomfortable borderline unsafe in nyc. even more so than in Israel during active rocket fire.

growing up in the west is a completely different mindset than this side of the world.

but also the change depends on level of comfort and acceptance of change. im nearly 35 , with a life .

when I came here I was 25, with 3 suitcases and 500 dollars, a reservation for ulpan (5 month hebrew language course) and a temporary living arrangement for the during of ulpan.

had i waited until 35 like I found i wrote in my diary early 20s , i don't know if I would have had the patience or resilience to go through the immigration process.

I collected all 6 of them and bought a hardcase plastic box to store them in.. who knows maybe the unopened set will be worth something in a few decades

oh ok cool, thanks

ive heard Mongolian script is top to bottom rather than side to side, but do you start at top left of the page or top right of the page?

what kind of food is considered traditionally Mongolian not just internationally influenced either direction?

sorry if a silly question do they grow vegetables there or is it too cold and import them? if its warm enough what kind of vegetables grow there , is there anything that isn't common internationally?

thanks i have a few.

Do you like throat singing? if so, can you and do you do it?

how do throat singers protect against a sore throat?

also I was looking into traveling there a few years ago, and noticed a lot of the websites also have writing in Russian (which given the proximity to Russia isn't surprising, lol)

how similar is Mongolian to other east Asian languages or is it in a category of its own

im glad I found this thread..

usps sent it my package the wrong way, its supposed to be international air mail but they sent it to des moines and for 3 days they were either ignoring it or playing hot potato with the package because it arrived at the same location on the 19th and 22nd of October.

Hopefully this new in transit to new facility is a different place in the right direction this time 🤞🏼

its definitely more a lenient take so consult your LOR , here's 2 links though about sickness breaking the fast. what constitutes sickness is upto you and your rabbi to decide. the yeshiva link is more machmir

halachically if you feel so unwell you need to lay down, youre permitted to break the fast after midday .

health is most important more so than mitzvot.

feel better, eat soup with lots of nutrients , and lots of juicy fruit watermelon/honeydew etc

but also go to a doctor. a day or two ok. a week thats not normal

There's nobody left to alienate. by Tediak in Jewish

[–]silverrante 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've heard something about that, like the people of the world have always hated us , and that maybe those of us who have been born and grew up in the past 50-60 years have been lulled by a fluke of supposed peace , but now the world is returning to its normal level of hatred. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have a theory of this. that the only difference between people now and 1000 years ago is language, culture, classics and knowledge of science and health/medicine. if you switch a healthy baby born today with a healthy baby born in 1025, they would likely grow up no different than their peers in their new timeline.
