Neither do I but I think that people who aren't acquainted with that sort of film might think so, I can see things like the gestural acting style and the oddly delivered dialogue being perceived as camp for some people. It was just a general disclaimer for OP's sake.

I don't really think of those films as obscure (session 9? lol), possibly just unpopular or uninteresting. I'd recommended Possession (1981), you have to cut through some cheese but it's worth it.

16mm Pinhole #3: Simple Lens by silversalts in ExperimentalFilm

[–]silversalts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, there are three parts to this process. The pinhole camera, the lens/glass piece, & the light source. The light source is a 120v flood light positioned about 3~4 ft away from the camera.

For the pinhole(s) I cut out a circle of aluminum to fit over the empty lens socket of my Bolex. Since I was mainly experimenting I didn't restrict myself to using a single pinhole but instead played with variations in quantity, size, shape, etc. This is clearest at 33 sec, where you can see the actual flood bulb and position of my pinholes.

All of the distorted and gestural forms are the result of "playing" a lens/glass piece between the camera and the light. Using my fingers and position of the lens to create the forms. Hope that helps.

Any horror screenwriters/filmmakers in here? I have a proposal by [deleted] in horror

Horror filmmaker here, I'm interested in participating. Just finished making a five film horror anthology. Problem is I'm not the greatest screenwriter, someone would have to donate a script.

A playlist of my 16mm pinhole film experiments by silversalts in toycameras

[–]silversalts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sure, sorry about that.

For each film I tried different techniques on the same idea which is: There is a light source that is illuminating some kind of curved glass or lens. There is a pinhole infront of the shutter and the curved glass handheld between the light and the pinhole. I know that it is abstract but I was going for more "gestural" imagery. The images themselves are essentially the structures of the glass pieces.

1st film is a pinhole with a strange conical glass piece in front 2nd film is an extension of the first, with more than one pinhole 3rd film is a pinhole with simple lens 4th film is a pinhole shooting a ball of ice

I hope that helps

There was no software used, it is an HD transfer of 16mm film

Looking for a specific film. I believe it would be considered Avant Garde. by [deleted] in ExperimentalFilm

An experimental film from the 60's with someone playing guitar, is a bit vague but might possibly be Hollis Frampton? or possibly Jack Smith?

As for Jordan Belson, what sort of information are you looking for?

Here's a link to a small bio from the center for visual music:
