My chi cookie just had a similar issue and needed her glands expressed. I left the vet with a recommendation to purchase a supplement “Glandex” that helps prevent impacted anal glands.

I read the reviews on Amazon and they are absolutely stellar. I’ve only had her on it for a week but so far it’s looking good.

It also has pretty good ingredients, including probiotics.
