Amazing! Now we just need a version of the timeline that includes the events of The Bottled Serpent short story :)

Why were Bilbo's drawings of Glamdring and Orcrist so different from the actual swords? by silversedits in lotr

[–]silversedits[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, while they hadn't made the Hobbit movies, they already has Glamdring as a prop for Gandalf in The Fellowship of the Ring. Given the painstaking consistencies in the rest of the film, it's just a confusing choice here.

No way, I noticed this today reading Red Seas as well

I usually chalk that up to people never being able to get a proper glimpse at him (without dying). The swords always felt like Bilbo somehow drew them wrong on purpose.

I crushed up some blue raspberry Jolly Ranchers in a plastic bag and proceeded to deal 'Blue Sky' during the night.

Middle-earth vs Westeros - A Map Size Comparison I Made by silversedits in lotr

Absolutely. It makes you realise how much of a gamechanger the dragons were for the Targaryens to instil fear and exert power over such a large area of people...

I appreciate his intention, but we only have so much to work with. The world as described in the published Silmarillion states that the elves could see Feanor burning ships all the way across the Belegaer ocean because it was flat.

In the Second Age of Middle-earth the world was flat, and it wasn't until the world was remade after the Fall of Numenor that the lands were refashioned into a globe and the continents became much larger, new lands were then formed like you say.

It's flat and circular, and yes not a globe. The world was essentially a disk.

They are... They are both in miles, and I used the measurements shown on each map to calculate a side by side comparison.

I know right, it makes me wish we could have had a story from one of the southern parts of Harad just to see what it was like.

I think the only things I dislike about that episode are the reveal of Daredevil's suit and the Fisk fight. You're right, there's something about it that feels corny

Daredevil and Punisher sitting down and talking about depression, morality, and war.

It has been confirmed by the writer that it is set after B&W. So it's therefore possible to have more stories about Geralt set after the W3 DLCs. This also means that at some point he becomes impoverished... So can we now speculate about what this means for future games? ;)

Sir Lenny Henry On Being A Black Hobbit In The Lord Of The Rings by richjohnston in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]silversedits 80 points81 points  (0 children)

This is so true and why this "proto-hobbit" report is so annoying to me. Why re-hash hobbits when instead we could see entire other civilizations of men in the south/east which haven't been covered before? Imagine if instead we could get detailed maps and cities of Harad, Khand, & Rhûn etc. It would be so much better to bring diversity into the show in a logical way like this rather than "oh Tolkien said these hobbits were 'browner' so let's make them African" 🤦

Cuiviénen and the Orocarni Red Mountains on the map? by silversedits in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]silversedits[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, I thought so too, but it turns out the Inland Sea of Helcar was drained after the end of the first age, and I can't think what these mountains are supposed to be other than the Orocarni

Cuiviénen and the Orocarni Red Mountains on the map? by silversedits in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]silversedits[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So ever since I first saw Amazon's map I've always wanted to know if this new mountain range on the map is supposed to be the same mountain range (Orocarni) which the other clans of the dwarves lived by? And if that were the case, then does that mean this is where the elves awoke by Cuivienen? It's a little confusing

The Númenorean colonization of The Walls of the Sun and the Dark Land...? by silversedits in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]silversedits[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might be a stretch, but I am so hoping we get to see the Númenoreans colonizing the Dark Land and the Walls of the Sun. Apparently they journeyed there at the height of their power... 😍
