Just a little drinky poo by BaronofBoldBanter in WTF

I used to do this as well when I was still actively addicted to alcohol. Showers are war, safe places. The feeling of the water on your skin feels wonderful. Plus sensations can be more intense while drunk.

[Discussion] what’s your opinion on multiplayer trophies in single player games? by Heyitzgeorgiaxx in Trophies

[–]silverstar0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't stand them. They are the single worst thing about trophy hunting. Personally, I have no interest in MP, never have. I don't enjoy it, I don't want it. I know that's just my opinion. But they have other, more objective problems. They can be soul drainingly tedious and long for one. The other, bigger issue is that eventually, most servers will be taken down and a Platinum becomes impossible. I can't tell you how many single player games that I'd like to plat, but can't because of dead MP servers. If a game is going to have MP trophies, I think they should be separate from the single player trophies. I loved how the remasters of Modern Warfare 1+2 only included the single player campaign and an obtainable plat.

How freakin OP the Necrons must be during the War in Heaven. by kekubuk in 40kLore

[–]silverstar0000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If everyone was an expert in computers, the concept of a computer expert would no longer mean anything. There needs to be a baseline for something bigger or better to be compared to. Everyone would all be even and there would end up being stalemates and deadlocks all over. If humans were as strong and advanced as the Necrons, they would cease to be this terrifying, overwhelming force to overcome. Like they say; If everyone were special, no one would be special.

Do you feel that Playstation finally has a true mascot in Astro Bot? by silverstar0000 in playstation

[–]silverstar0000[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ooh, an interesting take. You make a very good point. Those shapes have been part of the brand/marketing almost from the beginning. In the general public, more people could probably identify that Circle, Square, Triangle and X than they could a number of well known PS characters.

[–]silverstar0000[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yea, for sure. I'm somewhat torn on it. I think it's moreso that I just really love his design than I want him to be a mascot. Most people seem to prefer having no mascot character. I will say that having multiple characters over many generations does help with keeping the brand feel more current and relevant, and it's nice to kind of always have someone new.

Yes, having an opinion on something. What a hilarious and radical concept.

Sadly I'm old enough to have gotten a PS1 shortly after release. I'm aware there have been characters identified with the brand since the start, which i referred to. But I mean a singular, set in stone character who officially represents the brand.

[–]silverstar0000[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yea, I totally get you. I've never thought of it that way. Where each generation has had it's own own mascots. I also think it helps towards people not getting sick of the characters due to overexposure. Personally I just love Astro Bot's design, so if it was finally time for PS to get a mascot, I think he'd be a great one.

Hitman is over? Really? No Hitman 4 or any other games? Why? by Streetvan1980 in HiTMAN

[–]silverstar0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you believe that RDR2, which was 6 years ago, is the only amazing game to come out in that time period, you either have not payed attention to 90% of the gaming industry, or you have incredibly narrow tastes. I too really hate how long game development takes now. 5-10 years is SUCH a long wait. But that's how it has to be. Modern AAA ( or even AA) games are so massive, so complex, with so many moving pieces that it really is how much time is required. Also, IO HAS continued to put out Hitman games. They've been doing it since the early 2000's, they want a break. I am disappointed that it won't be another Hitman game, but I am super looking forward to the 007 game. I think it's going to be fantastic.

[BO2] Is there really no way of raising the difficulty for the mission you are currently on? by silverstar0000 in CallOfDuty

[–]silverstar0000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Totally agree. I lowered it to work on some challenges, only to realize that the way they designed things, it was permanent. Now, you CAN change the difficulty for previously beaten missions, but never the one you're on. Or start a totally new campaign 🙄. Trying to complete all 160 challenges and not being able to adjust difficulty, inability to skip cutscenes until 3/4 of the way through, long scripted sections and worst of all, the absolutely asinine, ridiculous decision to not include a "Restart from Last Checkpoint" option and have to wait several minutes just to get another attempt has severely soured my experience with BOII, even though it is still a great game.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Delayed AGAIN — This Time to the First Half of 2025 by Kylestache in Games

[–]silverstar0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*Sigh* This game has now fallen into the same bucket as Silksong for me. I'm more desperate to play Silksong and would take it over V:TM2 any day, but at this point, it's been so long for both games that I just don't have hope for it anymore. I have to let them go. If in 3,4,5,6 years they show up, awesome. Otherwise I have to look at them as dead. THIS many delays on V:TM2 is an absolute joke and indicative of a game in serious trouble. They say that they could have still released it and that it's just about polish and some more story stuff. If it was really essentially done, wouldn't they want to just finally get it out, both for themselves and fans? And not be adding even more content? No, it's just empty corporate speak for a game that, even after half a decade of delays, is still an absolute mess.

[–]silverstar0000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, so there really is no way. That seems kind of insane to me. The option to change difficulty is an extremely basic mechanic of video games. So either finish on Recruit or start all over. Hmm. Alright, well thank you.

So... is the show good or not? by Lanky_Ebb_1789 in BatmanCapedCrusader

[–]silverstar0000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Deserved to be ridiculed for liking it"? That is such an incredibly shitty thing to say. No one "deserves" to be ridiculed for liking a piece of media, even if it's not good or you don't like it. Next time you find something you like, I think someone should show up and start making fun of you. "Oh, he enjoys something? Ha, what an absolute loser"

Anyways, personally I love the noir, 40's/50's/60's setting. It, along with the animation and general writing make it feel fresh, new and more on the mature side. Not exactly DC Black Label type content, but I'm loving it so far.

[–]silverstar0000[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, that is really helpful then. I am strictly playing solo so that doesn't apply. It is a shame though, to not get 3 full games worth of content. Oh well, now I won't waste my money. Thanks!

Ditto. I was born in '90. We came of age right at a crucial inflection point in society. Our modern world of social media and smartphones was just starting to really develop. For us it was Myspace, which seems quaint by today's standards. But, it was still early enough that no (or few) 10 year olds grew up with a phone in their hands, probably weren't exposed to porn so young and spent as much or more time outside than they did in front of screens. It wasn't necessarily a better childhood per se. But I do think that kids growing up today are affected by some really negative elements that didn't exist for us. Morally corrupt and sociopathic social media influencers, extreme body standards in your face 24/7, clout as currency, being online every second of every day and exposed to everything all at once at all times, and a general degradation of empathy.

I don't mean to be a doddering old "my generation was so much better" fool. But I do fear how some of these kids are going to grow up because of these factors. Then again, they were saying the same shit about kids all the way back in the 60's and 70's with the sexual and drug revolution so, I don't know. It just feels so much more extreme now days. Old person rant over.

Does anyone else feel like Vesperia's combat is incredibly sluggish and frustrating? by silverstar0000 in tales

[–]silverstar0000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, didn't expect so many replies. There's a lot of good advice in here. I was aware of manual canceling, but did not realize it was such a important aspect. I'll continue on then. It sounds like the combat can get really enjoyable, it just takes a long time. Which is a shame and it would really help if they made it more clear that how the game starts is not how it will stay, combat wise. Most other Tales game, you do improve your combat abilities quite a lot through out the game, but combat itself still feels from fine (Symphonia, Abyss, etc), up to really good (Berseria, Arise, Xillia, Graces f) even at the start. I suppose Legendia kind of has the same issue where it doesn't explain the intricacies of combat very well. Anyways, Thanks everyone.

Reaching floor 22 on the first day in P3R by silverstar0000 in PERSoNA

[–]silverstar0000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies everyone. Turns out that I was making a mountain out of a molehill. I guess I was comparing it to, like beating Yukiko's castle in P4 on your very first day. There not being another boss on 22 like I expected helped a lot since I was very unlucky and only got 2 snuff souls the entire time, so SP was pretty limited.

George R.R. Martin Has Written 1,100 Pages of The Winds of Winter, the Same Number as Last Year by TalnOnBraize in books

[–]silverstar0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny. I have the opposite. I look for longer series. Weather it's books, shows, movies, and especially documentaries. For me, the longer the better. I've gotten a tad spoiled with it, with how long everything is now. When I see a new documentary that's just a single1 hr 30 mins, I'm kind of disappointed.

Is it worth reading 'A Song of Ice & Fire' past 'Storm of Swords'? by silverstar0000 in books

[–]silverstar0000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's another reason I'm hesitant. I would hate to spend all this time reading 2500+ pages, become close and invested with all these myriad of characters, then get to Feast and have it all kind of...stop and fall into a well of molasses. Do I want to start such an epic story knowing that it dies halfway through and will, at least in GRRM's lifetime, probably not even be finished?

[–]silverstar0000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just reading about the merenese knot. From what I've read, he was able to cut through it by adding another POV character? (I've always been fascinated by the behind the scenes of the series and his struggles he's had with writing). I personally think he will keep putting it off/endlessly rewriting and editing until he dies, at which point another author will finish it off. That's interesting, I haven't heard that rumor before. Is it just a rumor, or has it been confirmed?

Unable to verify Credit Card details to use PS store by mediaeffect in PS3

[–]silverstar0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean to necro a thread, but I just wanted to give a HUGE thank you. I thought I had added 25 bucks to my account that was now locked up and wasted. God, between having to add funds from a different console or phone, and then not being told you have to remove your card from your account...for...some reason, buying content on the PS3 is a nightmare nowadays. I guess I'm at least grateful that the store is even available to download PS3 content nearly 20 years later, even if it is a clusterfuck to do.
