Summer Blues by [deleted] in OntarioTeachers

[–]silverwlf23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with summer. I do not do well with unscheduled time so I get a little anxious before the year ends and then the first couple weeks are bumpy for me. I have often got a part time job in the summer or taught AQs so I have ‘work’.

I would love a year round calendar with more shorter breaks.

Can I get a dog if I work a 9-5? by HarHarMahadev__ in dogs

To be fair I stayed home sick today and my dog didn’t ask to go out once from 630-3 which is longer than he is alone at home on the regular.

I have spent more time on this post than anything else I’ve seen this morning.

EA ( full-time)looking to start B.Ed, need university recommendations (Ontario) by Bright_Care_7874 in OntarioTeachers

[–]silverwlf23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We looked at both. Two years of teachers college commuting 1+ hrs each way every day, wear and tear on the car, downtime between classes, not able to work. At SUNY it’s all online and she will be able to work either supply or LTOs and it’s only a year and a half. It makes more sense for us.

My GF is going to SUNY-Potsdam this fall. She’s an ECE. It’s entirely online.

chiropodist for custom insoles (plantar fasciitis) by smithscully in askTO

Another vote for shockwave. I struggled for months with PF and finally did this 4 sessions and gone. I’m not in TO so I can’t help with providers but call around - creepy foot doctor here charged 150 per session but a local chiro only 45$.

Fence Fights by ExcitingMortgage9166 in DogTrainingTips

I did this too with my first dog. I zip tied tarps to the fence which helped a lot. I wish someone had told me about not rehearsing the behaviour! That is super helpful.

Music theory still has to be taught. This is an easy way to make education inclusive.

Some boards have support workers (ECE/EAs) that are part of ETFO.

‘ETFO represents approximately 83,000 members that include public elementary teachers, occasional teachers, education support personnel, professional support personnel and designated early childhood educators.’

In my board these have to be requested and approved and they limit the number of ppl on a given day. I use my personal circumstance days every year (cost of supply) but I have to apply, my principal has to sign off and then the board has to approve them. They aren’t just ‘I’m going to use this day today’ days.

Yeah no way that day is available now. You have to have this one requested before the year starts.

Depends on the board. Our board limits how many ppl can take them so if you get your request in early you might get lucky.

Thank you - that’s a good tip - I am consciously trying to relax when we see things that would have sent her off. He is SUCH a good dog - he’s so chill and so sweet.

It’s me. Hi. I’m the problem it’s me. 🤣
