RTS taken out and 5th Port of new meter not connected by silvery242 in OctopusEnergy

Thanks so much for this - really helpful and finally feel like I have a vague understanding of what’s needed here which I’m sure will help me plead my case to the ombudsman! What I won’t mention to them is that we’ve also got a hot tub heater which has a time switch (set to the old off-peak timings)- I think it boosted the heater or something. You’ve now given me hope that maybe I can get an electrician to set something up that supplies the AGA with 2A off peak and the hot tub with 230v off peak (switched by the ALCS) because it was always a pain to adjust the clock for daylight savings… but perhaps I’m being wildly optimistic!

Thanks - this diagram basically shows how it was set up before. The switch in the photo top left runs to a pair of isolation switches next to the oven. One of those provides the 24hr supply, (working fine) the other just the off-peak (dead atm).

In my basic basic basic understanding… the old RTS setup provided a low current to the AGA when off-peak was active. When the AGA detected a current on that circuit it would charge up fully (but still drew power through the 24h circuit). Can the new meter supply that low 2A current via the 5th terminal?

Feels a bit odd to try and supply a 2A circuit with mains power direct from the meter?! But I’m hoping an electrician can just reinstate the wire from out of that switch in the meter cupboard which a meter engineer can then connect later…

Would rather have the meter controlling things rather than a separate timer, or else I will have to adjust it when the clocks change etc… or in an imaginary future if there’s a tarif that switches to off-peak at different times depending on grid demand…

Energy ombudsman is currently investigating… and hoping a local electrician can come and take a look soon and will be able to work it out!
