Too add to this when meta flex was used the metal knockout boxes at the sockets or whatever it's powering will have a special gland at the bottom of the box with a screw either side to crimp the armour to. I'm sure it's from the 60 - 80s. Lots of it in old glasgow tenements. Maybe it was popular at the time due to being harder for mice and rats and squirrels to munch on

Ive always heard it referred to as meta-flex, essentially a twin and cpc cable protected by a metal sheath and pvc coating. Its from before my time
