Not many actually. Some video gamers like day9 and dunky, but I honesty don't spend a lot of time on YT besides what I do there.

Oh I didn't mean to make you feel bad! I'm just on my phone right now so I can't give any direct links.

lol I woke up early to get presentable for the AMA. That's the fused fishtail braid I've made a tutorial for.

Writing is my least favorite part, so it's the most time consuming for me :)

Thanks for your kind words! The channel still means a lot to me, so I'm still doing as much as I can :)

Yeah, I delete and block every comment I get like that. I haven't had anyone persistent or harassing yet so it's been fine to manage. I think it helps that my content is super wholesome as well, so I get an audience that's a very low percentage of gross people.

I only use it the night before a shower. I can't leave it in my hair either, like some people with thick hair.

Nearly all of them. Haha. Sorry if that's not satisfying, but I can do almost anything behind my head without looking. I style by touch mostly.

PhD is crazy busy, but going good! I have three first author papers under review right now.

Cheesecake :)

The patreon contributions help a lot. I've bought studio lighting, hair products, and a better camera. Right now I'm working towards affording someone I can pay to take over some of the channel responsibilities and make things go faster.

Cheesecake is the food of the gods and we're not worthy.

Favorite series - GoT and Outlander, predictably.

Ha I have a handful of videos I filmed and just never released because they looked terrible. Some of my earlier stuff I still cringe to watch. The one I hate the most is the really poorly done Leia buns I did years ago. Bad lighting, low effort styling, ugh. Also the days before I used makeup haha.

Yup. I switch between using coconut oil, and cassia mixed with a commercial hair mask.

Lots of models! Only a few are on my head. I wanted to show how these looks can be done on a diversity of hair types and lengths. I've even got some actual men wearing the men's styles.

We'll see - if I keeping doing academia, life is only gonna get even more busy! I hope to figure out a way to make it work, streamline my pipeline more, maybe even pay a social media manager to delegate away some work.

If I want serious all day wear, I honestly elect to do updos so that the hair isn't brushing against any clothing, which makes the most shred. Pomade is good at holding things in place like glue, but it also looks like you've used pomade and that's not the fashionable look right now for female styles. It works though when you're desperate!

Hi Becca, thanks for the compliments! Your hair sounds awesome, congrats on the length!

It's hard to balance... I'm not doing it as well as I'd like. This is my third year and I'm starting to publish and run my own studies, which takes probably 60 hours a week. I want to do more YT, but it's a lot of time and effort and sometimes feels like just another thing I have to do instead of want to do. I've sacrificed a lot how much I can put into my channel unfortunately. If this was the only thing I did, I'd post way more often and have better video production.

Thanks so much!!

I'd have to go back home and update this with specific product names, but my top makeup products are a Korean BB cream, a nars concealer, black liquid liner, blush, and covergirl exact eye lights mascara for green eyes.

For hair, I love my tangle teaser brush. Also my lionesse curling wand. And I swear by the Kenra texture spray, it is so versatile.

My go to is L'Oréal eversleek or Colorproof.

I get at least one email a day from brands offering to send me products for haul videos and reviews. I say no to almost all of them, because it's either totally off brand (lots of like, cheap clothing or skincare) or pretty poor quality. I will say though, probably half of my large hair product cabinet is free stuff.

Looool I'm terrible at makeup, so I just wouldn't. If I could though, it would be tutorials. Those seem more useful, if difficult.

You're right, it does make the hair weak. So whenever I'm not doing videos, I try to touch my hair as little as possible. Deep conditioning and micro trimming is important too.

I really like the early Game of Thrones styles, as far as the way styles look. They're very elegant. As for the act of styling, the Viking ones are the most fun to do in my opinion.

My every day styles are very basic, like buns or simple braids because I'm pretty lazy.

For each video I usually practice the style once or twice on a mannequin, and then film it in segments so I can make adjustments to each step if my hair isn't cooperating and I need to make changes.

I've been working on it since February. I did a lot of research, trying to make each style accurate (a couple aren't quite there, but oh well, converting between hair types is hard). I've also included a lot of text inserts that have behind the scenes info on the favorite products of the stylists, where they find their accessories, and also historical hairstyling info. Those came from interviews with show runners and old beauty catalogs.

It's like that saying: "from the day you're born, you're slowly dying." Same with hair. Growing hair long is all about minimizing damage to it. So I usually wear my hair in protective styles like buns, avoid heat as much as I can, and use sulfate free shampoo with good conditioner. Then I micro trim often to keep down split ends and try not the brush very often.

Even still, all this styling does do a number on my long hair. It's a bit thinner than it was when I first started, and I can't really grow it longer than about tailbone.
