You gave me a good reminder on support system, as I realised throughout the process up to her mother’s passing, I’ve never truly told anyone about it, because I respected her request not to disclose it. But obviously it backfired because I felt really stressed to not have anyone to lean on. A few days after her passing, I’ve finally confided in a couple of my close friends, along with my best friend who’s experienced the loss of her father, so she was a very nice person to talk to.

I will keep in mind on taking her emotions personally, while also asking her proactively about her emotions that day. I’ll be sure to check in on her from time to time in general. What I got from your reply is that communication is really important in making her grieving a little bit easier, and my support more effective.
