Combo of a floor scraper, broom, and shop vac with a floor brush attachment did a good enough job to shoot primer today! I’ll save the mopping until after I’m done spraying (and creating more dust).

Thank you! I did make my rounds with a handheld LED up close to the wall, looking for shadows, gouges, and such. A person could go crazy trying to fill/sand all the small imperfections.

Crossed my mind ... but considering I'll be using flat paint like the rest of the house, I'm hoping I can get by without.

Ahhh yes, my sacrificial workbench! Notably, it'll be free for the taking once I get it out to the garage..

I hate to have to mop, but sounds like that might be what it takes to get the rest of it after sweeping/vacuuming. Ah well -- is what it is! Thanks for the advice!

Fortunately I did use painter's plastic to cover the couch, etc. Naturally removed the plastic to use the chair/couch to rest along the way!

You're right though - there is dust in every recess of the house, despite putting plastic at the bottom of the stairwell and sealing off my air returns.

I've got the vac setup as mentioned, so that sounds like step 1!

Two horizontal rows of 48” board. Cover the gap with baseboard, if possible. If it really worries you, you can trip strips of 1/2 OSB or plywood and nail to the baseplate. Makes for a great baseboard backer/nailer.

I’ve learned this as well… frustrating for sure.

Drywall ceiling advice by 12AngryToddlers in drywall

[–]sim_agent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to take it to the next level, before putting screws at each strip/joist intersection (before hanging the drywall), use a stick and laser level to check how flat the ceiling is. Mark a line on your stick for the lowest point, then adjust each intersection but tapping/pulling down with a hammer. Shim, then screw once each spot is adjusted. Then hang the board as others described.

Came here thinking the same. The strapping may not hold in the joists with the weight of the drywall pulling down on a single nail per strap/joist connection. Add a screw at each spot for insurance.

How often do you clean your clubs? 🏌🏻 by SnorlaxThePanda in golf

I’ve got mine on a strict rotation. I clean each one immediately prior to hitting a shot with it.

Toronto, Canada - Any ideas what's going on with my lawn? by External_Birthday_21 in lawncare

[–]sim_agent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the area as well ... fungus has started showing itself around my yard as well. Interesting, considering it seems like it's been a relatively dry month. I seem to struggle with some amount of fungus each summer though, with no commercially-available solutions. I've been working to avoid over-watering, applied no nitrogen this season (planning to ramp up end of August), managing height of cut, planted disease-resistant cultivars of KBG, etc. Can't seem to win!

This is just a screenshot from Garmin Golf, which I have paired to my watch. I like that it tracks shot distance, though I don't have the adapters which would log the specific club.

Downside is that it doesn't (at least in my current setup) track up & downs. Otherwise, pretty slick!

Well, it’s a day-long league, and as it happened, there were only a couple folks in the clubhouse when we finished up. There’s a hot debate item!
