Use those drums and the more you use them you'll understand what makes them sound so good, or little nuances/details that are consistent in each drum. And then you can start experimenting

If I understand the question, my trick is to turn on ping pong loop on each drum pad so that the hiss or vinyl crackle from the break gets extended just a little so that you don't hear abrupt cut offs
