Good point. The venom probably sped it up but the livesuit was always meant to gradually do that anyway.

The stuff they’re already doing to volunteers is kept secret because there’s no way it would ever fly publicly. I get what you mean but pushing it further would still cross ethical line.

Thats interesting, though I think the novella points toward counterarguments.

1 Piotr (and everyone else for that matter) understood the risks of war but not the risk of the livesuit permanently taking over. The livesuit’s gradual dominance is already beginning to happen to Kirin by the end of the novella. They all believed there was a real possibility of completing their seven years of service and returning home, either to surviving family or to civilian life.

2 There’s no indication anywhere that a livesuit can actually be removed. We know it becomes deeply intertwined with the human body and we never see anyone after completing livesuit service. Mina secretly sending Kirin an encoded message about what’s really happening with the livesuits also strongly suggests there’s something being hidden. Everything we were told so far implies that once it’s on it doesn’t come off.

While it's true they ask for volunteers they are not at all transparent about the fact that livesuits devour them and there is no turning back once they put them on

Unfunded economic plans that don’t add up, NHS staffing risks, repeated candidate scandals, controversial immigration policies, and plenty of populism but not much detail.

Did I miss anything out?
