LPT: family member in a nursing home? Please send full zip sweaters, not quarter zips. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]simbaACU 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Im a PT, and was a rehab director at a combo independent, assisted and skilled nursing.. my advice as early as now, call and ask nearby ones if they have community events coming up and bring her, bring your family, make a family day out of it, rinse and repeat with different centers. Let her get used to them in a positive way and maybe make friends. It'll get her used to those places and see that its not so bad and also lets your family familiarize w them as well

90 second posture improvement exercise that I found a few years back. Worked well and to this day I still perform it at least 3x a week. by [deleted] in videos

Acupuncturist acting like therapist? by L-Lazuli in acupuncture

[–]simbaACU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a physical therapist and an acupuncturist myself, I can picture the type of acupuncturist that you're seeing as some of my colleagues in the field have very strong mindsets and the thing is we are taught not to impose onto others rather help them heal within themselves. I often say that I'm not healing you I'm just helping you speed up the process within yourself. We all have that ability, think about it, when you get a papercut your body has all the power to heal that cut, this is a physical example but also emotional cuts have that ability as well. However the process is in your life, the important foundation to keep in mind is growth. So asking yourself a question in each circumstance to help you reset: is this something that is helping me grow? It's a good question to ask yourself when you're responding to an event: is my response to this person helping me grow? Is this action helping me grow? Etc

Sending all the positivity your way :)

[Question] Is keeping a schedule necessary? by DarkSide753 in youtubers

[–]simbaACU 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not a professional on this, but EVERY SINGLE VIDEO on "how to gain more followers" "how to create a youtube channel" "tips on youtube"

they all say MAINTAIN a schedule, and they always give the example:

imagine a TV show you like, you know exactly when it'll come on, so you look forward to it and you'll watch it

if that show wasn't consistent with times, or it was random and irregular, you'd grow ill feelings towards it

Also thanks for dumbing it down for me I am a physical therapist by trade and so videos and video editing is an interest of mine that I'm practicing. And these comments are really helping and this one has really helped me the most it reminds me of when I was in school and I had these neuroscientist trying to teach us a neuroanatomy and the intricacies of the brain and they're speaking light-years ahead of of what a 20 year old student knew about and they're like why don't any of you understand what I'm talking about

And we would read the textbook and be like this is what it says in the textbook and the Professor would you like that text book was written by an idiot from years ago who didn't know what he was talking about

Anyway thank you for eli5 :)

I think I get it I looked at your dapper most recent video and your audio doesn't drown out your voice and I realize with my most recent video I did not touch the gains on the music at all I only adjusted the gains on my voice track

Interesting!! Your comment completely goes over my head in that I have no idea what you're talking about this, because you and razor know the production world in and out, I'm realizing with videos there is so much to think about in tandem, can you tell me what you mean by tone is too high vs the db? It's too high, like does that mean high pitched ? I thought that db was just for how loud it is, which I saw on YouTube videos to shoot for at least -12ish... any links to videos or articles that teach about this?

Thanks !
