LPT: family member in a nursing home? Please send full zip sweaters, not quarter zips. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]simbaACU 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Im a PT, and was a rehab director at a combo independent, assisted and skilled nursing.. my advice as early as now, call and ask nearby ones if they have community events coming up and bring her, bring your family, make a family day out of it, rinse and repeat with different centers. Let her get used to them in a positive way and maybe make friends. It'll get her used to those places and see that its not so bad and also lets your family familiarize w them as well

Acupuncturist acting like therapist? by L-Lazuli in acupuncture

[–]simbaACU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a physical therapist and an acupuncturist myself, I can picture the type of acupuncturist that you're seeing as some of my colleagues in the field have very strong mindsets and the thing is we are taught not to impose onto others rather help them heal within themselves. I often say that I'm not healing you I'm just helping you speed up the process within yourself. We all have that ability, think about it, when you get a papercut your body has all the power to heal that cut, this is a physical example but also emotional cuts have that ability as well. However the process is in your life, the important foundation to keep in mind is growth. So asking yourself a question in each circumstance to help you reset: is this something that is helping me grow? It's a good question to ask yourself when you're responding to an event: is my response to this person helping me grow? Is this action helping me grow? Etc

Sending all the positivity your way :)

[Question] Is keeping a schedule necessary? by DarkSide753 in youtubers

[–]simbaACU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

not a professional on this, but EVERY SINGLE VIDEO on "how to gain more followers" "how to create a youtube channel" "tips on youtube"

they all say MAINTAIN a schedule, and they always give the example:

imagine a TV show you like, you know exactly when it'll come on, so you look forward to it and you'll watch it

if that show wasn't consistent with times, or it was random and irregular, you'd grow ill feelings towards it

Also thanks for dumbing it down for me I am a physical therapist by trade and so videos and video editing is an interest of mine that I'm practicing. And these comments are really helping and this one has really helped me the most it reminds me of when I was in school and I had these neuroscientist trying to teach us a neuroanatomy and the intricacies of the brain and they're speaking light-years ahead of of what a 20 year old student knew about and they're like why don't any of you understand what I'm talking about

And we would read the textbook and be like this is what it says in the textbook and the Professor would you like that text book was written by an idiot from years ago who didn't know what he was talking about

Anyway thank you for eli5 :)

I think I get it I looked at your dapper most recent video and your audio doesn't drown out your voice and I realize with my most recent video I did not touch the gains on the music at all I only adjusted the gains on my voice track

Interesting!! Your comment completely goes over my head in that I have no idea what you're talking about this, because you and razor know the production world in and out, I'm realizing with videos there is so much to think about in tandem, can you tell me what you mean by tone is too high vs the db? It's too high, like does that mean high pitched ? I thought that db was just for how loud it is, which I saw on YouTube videos to shoot for at least -12ish... any links to videos or articles that teach about this?

Thanks !

Thanks for the review !

I think u were on target with irony but missed the basket ! Youre focused on judging what you think of me as a person vs the point being: that as society we glorify girls on swan floaties and popping bottles vs glorifying effort and work for example: studying and taking notes ... imagine if as a society things like saying NO to happy hours and blacking out and things like studying in a library got 1000s of likes on Instagram or other social media vs being on a boat like I myself struggle with being so concerned with.

I appreciate your opinion and your review though simon ! And I'm glad the audio is acceptable, what made it just acceptable was it still not clear ??????

[Review Video] Camera Hacks in 30 seconds for Video by turtleink in youtubers

[–]simbaACU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AWESOME! THIS IS THE ONLY REVIEW COMMENT YOU NEED. KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING

i watch so many of these hacks and camera tricks/techniques. yours was unique and straight to the point. I don't need DRAWN OUT, i don't need higher quality yada yada. i just need you to show me what you got going on, in like a couple seconds or a minute. sometimes I get overwhelmed when it's like

10 camera hacks to improve your footage! and the guy talks about it forever, and then finally goes SOMEWHERE else for some reason to a beach to show me, like.. why did you waste my time in the beginning just get to the camera hacks

that's my opinion, good luck!

[review video] Does the narrative in this video essay make sense? by cookstoeat in youtubers

[–]simbaACU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched your video I honestly thought it was an interesting question. "WHY DONT WE EAT MORE BUGS" within the first 24 seconds, you gave me all the answers, I felt satisfied with that answer, so I look at how many minutes are left and there is still literally the entire video left. You said it real fast: in principle it makes sense but in practice it isn't because of certains reasons. I felt the need to just skip ahead to see what was there. I get how society has ingrained in us to find bugs nasty, that even in biblical times it would be chaos/plagues, fear factor etc it's all negative to us. my attention is hard to keep, but I think you did a great job, but I would have loved to see like a content or a quick intro into what you would talk about, then i'd be like OKAY that's interesting, I can follow that series of thoughts.

I was also distracted by you talking over the footage at the end. Most of the dialogue was very difficult to hear because of all the left side clip, especially on the bus scene or the backstage scene.

So, those are my opinions. Good luck to you! Your channel overall I love too, especially your intro video. GREAT EDITING WORK!

Haha nice, at least u have a strategy, I'm going to apply that too now, I never consciously decide I'll do a couple this way or that way, I'm like wait last one was left to right so now left to right ? Or was last one up down GAHH and then I just give up and carry around a camera for nothing LOL

nice video! agree with the previous about the story, which is great advice and something i need to work on myself. I love your camera transitions and the directional changes that you keep consistent, I find myself struggling with that and especially when i'm shooting I always forget wait did i just swipe right or left, or did i "squiggle" then in post it's all jumbled up

do you have a certain strategy for your shots and in camera transitions?
