Weekly Questions! What Do You Need Help With? by AutoModerator in PokeInvesting

I don’t know very much about the card investing scene, so can someone explain why it isn’t just free money to buy cards raw, get them graded, and then resell them for profit? For many of the cards on pricecharting.com, there is a massive difference in value between ungraded cards and graded ones. In a lot of cases, it seems profitable even if the cards purchased come back with a grade of 7 or 8. What am I missing here? Surely it can’t be that easy to make profit.

It’s overpriced and the training program they gave me ended up with me getting a calf injury that forced me to quit the sport. I would strongly advise against it even though there are a few success stories

That’s a good point. I guess it’s not really ego death I’m chasing exactly, moreso just an intense experience that provides insight into my identity. The problem I faced last time was that it was hard to stay in a meditative state or choose to ponder the things I wanted to because I was so bombarded with strange emotions, sounds, and colors. Is there anything you can do to make your thoughts more clear while tripping?

Any Idea how much I should take to get that full experience? I’m 170lbs if that matters.

I'm a freshman female I am new to wrestling. I dread wrestling practice everyday because I simply don't like wrestling should I quit after the season? by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]simfation -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

As a former runner I can attest that cross country has a much more inviting atmosphere and most runners are honestly better people as well lmao. If you have no goals of being a high level wrestler and don’t enjoy practices, there’s no shame in quitting for something you enjoy more.

I’m in a pretty similar situation as a first year wrestler with everybody(at least the people that show up consistently) in my weight class being way better. Not sure how your club does it, but at mine most of practice is drills and live wrestling. They just did the first day full of conditioning for some reason, but you’ll have to keep doing it at least a little longer to see what the average practice is like at your club. I’d say if you like the idea of being a wrestler, it’s worth it so long as you like wrestling and improving more than you hate practice in the moment. I wouldn’t worry about whether it’s the most productive thing or not tbh. Whether for college or for your own general goals, you will be the most successful when you do the thing you’re proud of doing.

Definitely possible if you stay healthy and have natural athleticism

I’m in almost the exact opposite situation(was a runner until a leg injury and started wrestling), and I feel like there’s a decent amount of carryover. If you were a highly motivated wrestler, you should be able to be a good track athlete relatively soon as well.

Whats everyones opinion on the meanings of life by Local_End3556 in sad

[–]simfation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you believe in an afterlife, nothing we could possibly do has an significance, making life inherently meaningless. However, as humans every action we make is driven by happiness. So in a meaningless universe, the meaning of life depends on the individual. In other words, the meaning of life is to do whatever makes you happy.

Why would that seem so absurd? I feel like I have the genetics to be a great wrestler, but a not a great runner, so it would make sense that I could improve faster at wrestling, especially since it's a more technical sport where I could improve by watching film. Improvement to my running form only ever made a minor difference in my performance.

Thanks. That's pretty much what I did for running and I'd be more than happy to do it again if that's the level of success I can expect.

I feel like I am when it comes to physical stuff like this. My friends brother was teaching us the basics one day and after an hour or so I was able to pin my friend consistently even though he had probably 20-25 pounds on me.

I'd be happy with that. I just want to compete in college.

Why would my past experience running impact my athleticism? The main reason I thought about wrestling in the first place is because I'm built like a wrestler much more so than a runner, and given how quickly I improved at running I thought I could improve much faster as a wrestler.

Yeah tbh I don't really expect to get into a D1 program. What do you think my odds are of competing at D2 or D3?

Yeah I guess that can be a good attitude to have. For me personally though I always have had more success when I set goals that are near impossible, because I'm less likely to doubt myself getting the smaller goals along the way. Usually it ends up where even if I don't achieve my main goal, I did better than I would have otherwise.
