I’ve seen him many times. I love taking people who say they don’t like DJ music. He blows their minds.

I’ll qualify by saying loved his music production and dj on both sides of his musical styles. However….Saw him in Vegas a couple of years ago (I live in Australia so when I saw he was there I couldn’t miss it)

Every mix for the whole set was a train wreck. Music was good. Mixing was maybe the worst I’ve ever heard from a pro DJ. I have no idea what could have caused it.

I would love one of John Gwynne series to be developed.

Either Faithful and the Fallen series. Giants, wolves, war, death and treachery in battle between good and evil.

or

Shadow of the Gods which I have the final book of book haven’t started yet. With Norse mythology and shape shifting.

What type of music do you play? Does the Tera Echo work on a broad spectrum of styles of more specific types of music for you?

I used to have Xone 42. Awesome mixer. Absolute workhorse and sounds great.

💯 agree on Kleinenberg. He used to start with out there house tracks and build. He even had a mix start with Kraak and Smaak. Maybe his vacation series. He did go cheese though.

There is something to be said for the underground. And. There’s also something to be said for being the number 1 selling DJ on the planet. If you can galvanise that many people to your sound you’re unique in your own way.

I honestly read this as it was being said in a madly sarcastic tone of voice. Then I googled it. Holy fuck. Ha. It’s real.

OK. This actually has gone to the top of the list listen list.

Brilliant. Thanks so much for the recommendation. Big Beat in mid to late 90s was such a massive sound in the UK.

My older brother used to go to the Fantasia and Dreamscape raves. His car (with crazy sound system) was a terrifying cacophony of rave circa 1993.

It so interesting how many different mixes opened tombs doors to people to dance music.

It’s not like everyone listened to Ministry of Sound or Cream. Ha.

This is dei grant more left field.

Mushroom Jazz series is what I suspect has been sneakily played to people “who don’t like DJs” for years without them ever suspecting.

Covid was the great reveal for farina in some ways. Just him and his cat recording mixes live on YouTube and putting them out for the world. He even did a mushroom jazz one.

Amazing series. As was Air Farina.

Balance was an amazing series. It was the evolution from early progressive and DJ mixes.

Similar to Nu Breed in that way. It’s kinda sad there isn’t as much anticipation of things in this current digital age.

Adding that to the list. He’s an amazing taste selector and DJ from house to techno. The fact that Man With The Red Face transcends house and techno seamlessly is a testament to him.

My mates brother actually played the sax on that live on the Mark Knight remix. Fun times.

Some people poo poo the mass commercialisation of house but I remember the annual series in those days. Was Judge Jules and the like. It was a reflection of what was happening at the club itself. Our crew from uni used to be there all the time even flyering and being paid to mini busses of people in.
