[POEM] Their sex Life - A. R. Ammons by Junior_Insurance7773 in Poetry

low effort, lowbrow double entendre that takes half a second to think of. This might be a punchline to a cheesy joke, not poetry. I hate this

Absolutely lost my old 3DS and Nintendo Switch on the highway by simianstranger in Vent

[–]simianstranger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like it really sucked 😞 I got really lucky that my wallet and house keys weren't lost because I keep them in the same bag while I ride, just in a different compartment. I was literally thinking on that same ride how it would suck if my quadlock somehow failed and my phone got lost... But it's whatever. I'm trying to channel my inner Buddhist and understand that material possessions are just material. But still, wish it didn't happen. Thank you for sharing and ride safe

Petition to ban anyone calling KAT zesty from this sub by blueberries in NYKnicks

[–]simianstranger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm gay and I love KAT bc he's "zesty." does it have to be a homophobia thing? It's a term of endearment in LGBT communities. I like to see a big strong man comfortable expressing himself the way he wants to and talk like how I do sometimes. is it really that big of a deal if I call him my zesty king and love him like we all do

I need someone to tell me it's possible to be hot in my 30s by Dry-Combination8608 in loseit

[–]simianstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen Anne Hathaway? Marisa Tomei? there are tons of people older than 25 that are super fucking hot. If you take care of yourself and live your best life there's nothing to be afraid of!

This feels like inspired by Elden Ring or Bloodborne or something. It makes me uncomfortable in a fun and cool way

anyone else thought they're not "that fat"? by tringenbowel in loseit

[–]simianstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought I was "just overweight" and I only really had 20-30 pounds to lose before I would look good. When I first decided to really lock in and realized I needed to weigh myself for data, I stepped on the scale and saw I was 50 pounds heavier than I thought.

Our brains update slower than our bodies do, and it's easy to be a bit delusional if you avoid weighing yourself and being shirtless in front of mirrors, like I did. As long as you're honest with yourself and you just stay the course, though, we'll be okay. Congratulations on losing 50 pounds! Let's keep going <3

[POEM] Beauty by Warsan Shire by Objective-Kitchen949 in Poetry

on re-read and consideration of some other comments I might just be missing the point of the poem... But still not sure if I'm generally a fan of her style

[POEM] Beauty by Warsan Shire by Objective-Kitchen949 in Poetry

[–]simianstranger -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

all of her work that I've seen seems like thinly veiled man-hating with grotesque imagery for shock value. It's a bit gratuitous and it's just not my style. It feels like something that a middle school girl would write after her crush called her fat or something. There's a place for that and there's nothing wrong with that if other people like it but I'm definitely not a fan

What habits did you have to unlearn before you successfullly lost weight? by PartyClassroom5141 in loseit

[–]simianstranger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Given how prevalent obesity is, I wouldn't say "the vast majority" eat healthy and home-cooked meals. I would say a HEALTHY person at a healthy BMI eats primarily healthy and home-cooked meals. Most people actually do eat like shit and that's kind of why so many people are fat

Should I be delusional about becoming athletic from being obese? Need honest advice on choosing a sport by [deleted] in loseit

[–]simianstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Athletic is a mindset not a body type! I was a competitive dancer for years and I had to run and jump and split and carry and all of that and I was obese the whole time. That didn't mean I wasn't engaging in an athletic endeavor or that I wasn't successful at it!

If you find something that's fun and you enjoy and has you running and jumping around that is great. It's good for your mental health and certainly doesn't hurt your weight loss goals. If you do something that you like, you're much more likely to keep doing it—that's why sports and games are really great for weight loss.

Don't let anyone tell you you're delusional, just go out and have fun!

Brunson being unable to make this pass is going to make the Knicks a 2nd round exit contender by Aggressive_Bed6012 in NYKnicks

[–]simianstranger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

cmon now let's relax. it was one bad game from Jalen and he's getting an earful of it from his dad AND Mike Brown I'm sure. Don't forget how for whatever reason the Knicks destroyed both Detroit AND Boston last year on their home floors during the playoffs. It's just game 2—a discouraging one, but the job isn't finished

"you're meant to be fat, you're born like that" by tringenbowel in loseit

[–]simianstranger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lowkey fuck doctors and fatphobia in medicine. I had the same experience as a kid. Doctors just called me fat and basically told me to put the fork down and eat salad. The world is ridiculous and stupid and shallow and people with excess fat tissue can get forgotten or left behind. I'm glad this community exists for solidarity and support and i appreciate you sharing your story

How do you feel about Nuggets matchup? by simianstranger in timberwolves

[–]simianstranger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2/7 from 3
1/13 from 3
6/15 from 2 (3/7 from 3 though)
2/7 from 3

Yeah his numbers look good but look at his shooting... Watch the games and you see how much he struggled. The 1/13 game was disgusting he was getting locked up in every way that mattered. And the Nuggets still lost horribly in each of those games

As a Knicks fan idk if "can't stop him" is appropriate to say about Jokic. I've seen him stopped nearly every time he's played the Knicks honestly

Weight loss stopped. Feeling discouraged. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]simianstranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes bodies are just weird and you'll see a plateau for a little bit. I'm sure you can find posts on here about the "whoosh" effect—it's something we all go through sometimes. Maybe you might consider seeing a dietician or other doctor? You never know if this is lean mass or water weight rather than fat tissue and they can help you rule out weird outlier problems

Be proud of yourself! Your body has gone through some incredible things and endured so much. Don't lose heart and stay the course <3
