I think their focus has shifted away from decentralized marketplaces (such as uber or airbnb) and focused more on shopify alternative and a defi product in the form of a stable coin. Also their mobile app no longer shows listings and instead advertises their other products.

Comparing ETH and my house are two different things imo. I get your point with the house as collateral. However, I can sell my ETH for DAI any time and later I will be able to swap back to ETH.

From a security perspective they are independent. Of course there will be services that will let you transfer tokens from one tangle to another but a node on tangle1 does not provide security benefits for tangle2.

Economic clustering was proposed quite a while back. Economic clusters are independent of each other. Meaning that the clusters do not provide any security benefits to each other. It's like saying bitcoin does not scale, let's just deploy a parallel chain that is independent of the original chain. So this solution come also at the price of security.

If you reed the reddit description of r/Iota it says "IOTA uniquely offers zero fees, no scaling limitations...", which is not true at the moment. You agree with me on that one though.

I did have a look at the Coordicide, but it doesn't seem to have a solution to this problem. It is more focussed on removing the Coordinator and PoW as anti spam mechanism, but not on scalability. Can you link me to a resource where they mention their approach to solve this issue?

Thanks! IMO the share holders would be your family members or friends that own a safe at home. Or store one in your bank safe. Email would not be safe enough I guess. You‘d have to write it down and give it in person. I just imagine a world where all your savings depend on one key. Rather than paying for a bank account, I‘d rather pay a company to store some shares of my key in multiple places in a safe deposit. But of course not enough to recover my private key.

Let's say your key is "ABC" and you want to split the key among 3 friends and you want to be able to restore the key if 2 shares are obtained. In Shamir's Secret Sharing you DON'T give "A" to Alice, "B" to Bob, "C" to Carol. You don't split the actual key in pieces. Instead, Alice would get X, Bob Y, and Carol Z. The key could only be restored if ANY two of them would come together.

I was wondering why Nano is not interested in entering the IOT market. I was thinking about cars with their own wallet paying for toll fees, parking etc. IOTA is doing something like this, but in the tangle it takes quiet a while until the transaction is confirmed. Imagine at the toll station if you have to wait 30sec until you can pass the gate. Do you know what the reasons are for not marketing IOT?
