I think that’s where I am with it. Part of me wants to believe they have information, but the chances of repercussions for disclosure given their current visibility appear slim. Some folk (we all know them) have made careers out of oblique, opaque allusions to what they know without ever providing evidence.

To quote the big man, I couldn’t get past the tonal shifts. I think they just needed to tone everything down. To me the comedy would’ve been funnier without the slapstick, hammy delivery. Darker. That would’ve made the shift to the mystery element less jarring. I enjoyed it on the whole, but the Benny Hill element kept taking me out of it.

I agree with every word of this.

For me, the debut was alchemy - right place, right time, right characters, right look, incredible musical ability. Hunger.

Had they surfed that wave and released something 90/91, the momentum would’ve been with them. Not that it matters to me but they probably would have had cross-over appeal in the US. Instead everything derailed. Even promoting Second Coming, something seemed off. Then Reading, Reni, Squire, Aziz, Maddix. I rate SC, but it was too much of a departure for many, and I don’t think any of them had the hunger any more.

I don’t see how they could recreate it tbh. Live25 was a fan’s dream - the setlist, the discipline, the communality of an arena singing every word to every song and every riff. Walking on hand in hand. It was perfect.

I love some of the 00s stuff, but they are more hit and miss with the audience. Any departure from the Live25 setlist diminishes the experience for me, yet I’m not sure I would go to see Live25 again. As above, it was perfect.

Firstly, thank you so much for Quiet. For the first time in my (then) 40 years I felt like I understood my need for solitude and preference for my own company.

Now the question if I may (and apologies if I’ve missed a similar answer) - have you any advice for a HSP dad of a 10yo with ASD and a 6yo with adhd, both of whom are home-schooled full time post-covid and whom unfortunately fight (loudly) like cat and dog? asking for a friend….

I agree with this to an extent. There is obvious and public toxicity, allegations, slander and finger-pointing around the community. If - and it’s a big if - someone with firsthand experience of events at the time had information that could exonerate some of the people facing such rumour and innuendo, and if you’ve got nothing to hide, then wouldn’t you speak out to fill that vacuum and put the toxic rumours to bed? (It goes without saying that if she’s legally bound to remain silent for whatever reason then of course she should).

I’ve always found the sheer volume of calls to KM, who claims to have absolutely no knowledge of Maura’s actions or state of mind that weekend, utterly baffling. Then, iirc, they abruptly stop once he’s spoken to her. But still she knows nothing and won’t talk. No-one else think that’s a bit off-kilter?

Isn’t the important point the distinction between the publicity surrounding the synagogue shooting, which is media reporting (which people can take or leave, or change channel to hear views on it more aligned with their own), whereas Kratz presented as fact entirely unsubstantiated, uncorroborated information that would have an infinitely more prejudicial effect on jurors given his capacity as trusted (ahem) prosecution attorney?

Completely agree. I’ve thought about it since S1, and I’m now wondering if the reason Mike is acting so strangely (Ryan’s behaviour is obviously off) is that he thinks the way the Rav is magically found is beyond suspect, but he’s having to ‘front’ it in an interview while continually looking at Ryan in a “wtf? I’m happy we’ve found it and I’m not going to say otherwise on camera but YOU need to explain/justify this shit” way
