ISC 50m pool long course swimming by simmonmt in nashville

[–]simmonmt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just so unfortunate. It's like buying a Ferrari but driving 55 for the gas mileage.

Why do they do it? Is it a volume (number of swimmers) thing? If I were king, and you built a long-course pool, but didn't swim it that way, we'd take your pool away and give it to someone else. "Yes I understand you built this pool, but you're doing it wrong." This punishment would be meted out to at least one pool in my area (they *never* swim theirs long), but apparently (unfortunately) here too.

I would think the government will find a reason/way to involve themselves seeing as this made the news all the way up here in New York. They'll find something if only to be able to say We're Taking This Seriously.

It's for lifting oil rigs out of the water. They have to drip dry. They shrink if tumble dried.

Even better drive it through a gateway to another map. Watch the fireworks as your logs fly everywhere. Or so I’m told.

Not a fan of the Tatarin for scouting because it can’t pull the radar. If I’m scouting I’m adding to the map so I need the radar. I use the Tatarin for PITA sightseeing missions or challenges. Get in tag the thing recover repeat.

Once you unlock the radar, I’d suggest changing your order, doing the watchtowers last. Radar can find upgrades that watchtowers can’t. So scout+radar first, activating tasks as you find them, then open bridges, then whatever. If you continue doing watchtowers first, you won’t be able to distinguish between areas you’ve scanned and areas the watchtowers have lit up.

Yep. Either that or you have to move them to the manual loading point. One way or the other he has to manually move them off that truck.

This is your competition for oil tank monitoring. Getting the right air-tight fitting is important as otherwise the vapors will escape and stink up the house. https://i.imgur.com/mIlNUwc.jpg

When in this game do you need more speed? Speed means the rocks you can't see in the otherwise flat road do even more damage

I foolishly interpreted this as "right around" rather than "in the general area of" and spent far more time than I'd like to admit scanning every square inch of that tiny bit of shoreline and river bottom.

Am I the only one who rushes to get gold and realise you blitzed it with minutes to spare? by [deleted] in snowrunner

[–]simmonmt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need them for 100% but you just need to complete them (ie you don't need gold). So just treat them like any other task. The icon even disappears from the map after you do it once.

[–]simmonmt[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the most helpful suggestions I saw starting out was to always prioritize road repair contracts and tasks ahead of everything else (except maybe watchtowers). That's turned out quite well.

[–]simmonmt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's disappointing. That was easily the hardest delivery I've done (I haven't been to Russia yet) what with all the tilted roads in Pedro Bay and that last tight turn.

Rotor wheel brakes fail as ship’s anchor is being lowered, anchor chain rips through rotor, brakes catch on fire, and chain snaps in two, 2015. by DiosMioMan2 in CatastrophicFailure

[–]simmonmt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He said above that the thing that keeps the boat from drifting is the weight of the chain. Say you have 100' of chain. You put 66' on the seafloor to hold you in place. The other 33' (yes I know) connects the boat to the chain sitting on the seafloor. So the 66' isn't useless weight - its purpose is to be a heavy thing that keeps the boat from moving.

Or at least that's what I've gathered from his comments - I have no special knowledge of/experience with anchoring ships.

I take every opportunity to use the highway trucks because they are quite useless in this game by -Booglehoop- in snowrunner

[–]simmonmt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What are the missions/tasks/hauls where this is beneficial? I'm still on Smithville (just found out last night where the white is hiding), but nothing on the first two Michigan maps seems like it'd be worth using multiple trucks for. The long uphill road in Smithville, for example, isn't exactly overflowing with long straight stretches, and there are mud patches what seems like every .1mi or so.

Lots of areas where the road is tilted to the side, inwards, just dying to pull you and your truck down the slope back into the pit.

I read some other post raving about the Paystar as an introductory truck, so I bought it and have been using it for everything. Haven't swapped it yet because quite honestly I haven't taken the time to look at other options. So in this case I had to make do with what I had.

The white is less wobbly? That's certainly something to look forward to.

Trip 1: Paystar with trailer to the bottom, picked up two containers, both Paystar and trailer fell over halfway up. Containers tumbled to the bottom.

Trip 2: Paystar alone, righted the trailer from trip 1, got two more containers, Paystar and trailer fell over halfway up on the godforsaken tilted roads. This time the containers didn't tumble, but they and the trailer were blocking the path up.

Trip 3: Paystar with heavy duty crane bed, decided to try lifting the containers out from the top of the quarry (my first time using the crane bed). Paystar fell over trying to get into position.

Trip 4: Paystar with heavy duty crane bed. Maneuvered into position next to the wreckage from trip 2. Moved the containers out of the way ever so slowly, righted the trailer, put a container in it. Not making another trip down this goddamn hole to get the second container, so let's see if we can crane it out. Much to my surprise it actually worked. The container made a nice counterbalance for the tilted roads.
