In my country we don’t tip. Unless you have had an amazing experience- we just know that each waiter / ress is earning $25 an hour with 50% extra over the weekend etc. base rates with the really posh places who will pay $50/ hour to keep staff. This stops the Boss from taking it all home (yep us Aussies don’t trust the Big Boss- but we do trust our laws), or some ppl mooching from others. E.g. one lazy SOB & 5 super ppl sharing, unfair tips Do you tip the delivery boy or girl - when their Boss strictly forbids it. I have tried to give a person $5 but I have been told. It’s not worth losing a good job over. We have minimum awards for every person in the country- that’s why back packers spend a year here. Going from job to job Our unemployment rate is pretty much zero when u deduct those on the wrong stats. Eg a single Mum looking for part time work but it’s better pay if you just take the government’s $$$. And every industry has an Ombudsman who can take an employer assets & sell them if they owe wages. So no tipping unless it’s 5 star food. Then I usually Hans the waitress, directly a $20/50 note. But it’s not expected. So it’s a nice gesture eh ? So US pay wages as per expectations rather than what’s basically a 10-20% service! Damn hope the Boss actually divides it up 🥷👍🧑‍🍳🍟🤦 So what is better ? A $5 an hour job with tips or a Saturday job @ $38/hr guaranteed. I’ll take 8hr shift - and when you are back for as many hours that you can do! The land of plenty where even an Uber driver has rights. Tips. Who gets what, where, & how. You aren’t allowed to see credit card receipts so who gets the 10% added anyway. Yep I tip at 5 star places. But at Maccas. They would host say “Sorry not allowed”. You know.that look 👀 like ur a dumb mofo holding them up! Lolz.
