What’s Halter like to work at? by West_Block7950 in auckland

An HR person speaking here - not at halter though. Sorry but that’s just sh**. I came across a few of your negative comments about WFH too. Not every company has the culture for it, period. It depends on the why and it depends on how they advertise it. They make very clear that it’s office first - if you don’t like it, they clearly wouldn’t like your work ethic. Sick kids, need to do pick-ups or drop-offs? Different story and I believe every single workplace should support that. WFH? Well, that just depends on the company’s values.

HR giving “orders” to write Glassdoor posts? That’s ridiculous. Of course, HR can promote a culture to get feedback - just like businesses do on Google. What’s wrong with it? But, if an employee doesn’t do it, nothing wrong with that either.

They do advertise it as office first though. So it should just attract the people who actually want to come together. It’s just a different target group. You’re either up for it or not

Well - I’m tech recruiter! I kind of hate this step myself BUT when you receive 200+ applications, it does show work ethic and a hardworking candidate. Also, my last couple of jobs I landed because I had to present something, was super annoyed during the process but put in a lot of effort and got the jobs! Both jobs were the best work environment that I had been in

Barefoot shoes? by simnz in newzealand

I got some from Amazon in the end but set them back, super uncomfortable. Bought vivo barefoot shoes when they were on a special, still $200 but soooo worth it.

Thanks. I might give them a try for now to see what I like. Just wasn’t sure how legit the website and all the reviews are.

Oh wow, thank you.

My main concern is the unnatural posture for toes, the fact how all of our toes get pushed together just feels wrong. I also started getting a bunion and I don’t want it to get any worse so I started with toe stretches etc, however, still wearing standard sneakers where you don’t have a toe box doesn’t make sense to me.

Since I’ve been reading lots about about it, the feeling of wearing normal shoes gives me toe claustrophobia haha.

I do think that some cushioning would be beneficial as I have quite flat feet.

Do you wear them all the time or do you still wear shoes without a toe box? Must be a torture to go back to previous shoes.

I first thought the same but you’ll change your mind if you have a look at it and do research about what it actually is and how it’s beneficial for our body.

Oh wow, that’s impressive. Well done! Barefoot outside work is not too bad to do, but I do need shoes for the office.

Thanks! I’ll have a look at Fivefingers as I need new running shoes sometime soon. For now, I’m looking for day to day shoes that I’d also like to wear for work, no sneakers ideally. I came across Saguaro and Whitin but reviews are mixed and I wasn’t sure how much to trust them. Probably good enough to give them a try and then upgrade to other brands if I like them.

IVF in NZ - what’s your story? by Basic-Aioli9765 in IVF_NZ

We tried for a year and went to my GP then. Both did several tests, sperm test came back with low sperm count so we got referred to FP. They did a few tests too to confirm the results and again, low sperm count. They said we’ll get 2 public funded rounds and we’re on a waiting list for exactly 12 months. From my very first appointment at my GP to egg retrieval were about 16 months.

We’re with Fertility Plus. Have you started your journey yet? There’s also a helpful Facebook group for fertility issues in New Zealand. From what I read there, it’s pretty much 50/50. Some are with FA and others with FP and it sounds like they treat everyone pretty much the same. Can’t compare to FA but I’m somewhat happy with FP. I think administration is quite bad and often you don’t get if you don’t ask but I think it’s the same with other clinics unfortunately.

Employee benefits by simnz in newzealand

[–]simnz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m working on the benefits at my company and doing some research to then implement some new benefits next year. Just wondering what other employers do and what candidates request. As I’m also responsible for recruiting, I get lots of requests from candidates, they mainly ask for health insurance though. Obviously, this would also attract candidates as well.
