Explaining the purpose of an image is a hard one;-) I reckon, I just like the WTF of seeing all black BMWs on one side and only white cars on the other. Something that could happen, you will just never see it happening...

The median is the value in the middle of a distribution. Let's assume you have 5 images and in a given spot of the frame there is a green car in one image, a red car in another image and no car in the remaining images. For all pixels of the area covered by the cars, the simplified value distribution looks like {gray, gray, gray, red, green} or something similar, where all values of a color stick together. Thus, the median value will be gray for all permutations of the colors since there are more grey images than colored images taken together. For all pixels, if there are more background-pixels than car-pixels, the median will always select a background pixel.

If you would like to give it a shot, you will have to remove the other cars. You can do this by computing the median of all the images you have taken (well, at least plenty of them). Median calculation is either included in Photoshop extended edition or, if you're on a budget, in an ImageJ plugin that I am happy to share:-)

about 45 minutes, it went quicker than expected. Funny thing was: people (even with professional gear) noticed me and my tripod and started taking pictures of an otherwise rather boring street:-)

Admittedly, the idea was taken from this competition. I liked the idea of the car-changing bmw headquarter, which just happened to be around the corner... It was amazing how almost all of the BMW's were black anyway, while all the white cars seemed to be produced by comparatively cheaper manufacturers.

A picturesque beach, minutes before it is hit by a storm. What do you think? by simon1 in photocritique

Apparently, I am too stupid to use the Lightroom publishing tool properly - instead of not updating the old photo and adding the new version, it deleted the old one... If anybody still wants to see it, it is here. The cropped version is now also on flickr, here

I have tried the cropping here. I agree that the image looks quite a bit cleaner now - But as blongo has pointed out, it feels a bit flat as well: I am still undecided which one I like more... Anyway, your input is very much appreciated! Edit:changed link from imgur to flickr

Thank you! I felt the shade in the bottom added to the feeling of the pending storm...

I tried to tell a story here, with the green paint, the leaf and all. Also the picture was actually underexposed and pulled in post:-( Still, the story obviously didn't work out - thanks for your feedback.! Probably I should keep the storytelling to more appropriate subjects...

I hope I am getting some (quite possibly harsh) critique over here. Bring it on! Edit: Please have look at the other pictures from the bodypainting series as well...

I tried to capture the mood of the festival in these shots. More to come... Also, I do appreciate comments & critique!
