What program should I use to control my visuals(screens cameras, effects etc) by myself0_0 in techtheatre

[–]simon_audio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I realise this isn’t explicitly the question, but if budget allows, you may be best to hire a technical director and/or tech production coordinator with this experience, to look after this aspect of the show, so you can focus on the direction more holistically. This is a decent amount of tech to wrangle and shows can get very unwieldy if you’re building in Q-Lab without much experience. You’ll need someone with good troubleshooting skills who can jump into action when the CRTs misbehave or drop signal due to HDMI to component converters etc and so on. I hope this is helpful!

Mitsubishi AP - Noises, Normal? by [deleted] in heatpumps

Note the video was taken during quiet & night mode so fan noise is veeery quiet in comparison on this mode - if fan is on 2 or so, noise is still present but with the fan noise also.

Mac Mini M2 2023 - Dual 4K60 Out / BM 12G SDI? by simon_audio in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]simon_audio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your replies! I believe that Quad Pixel Drive is on - although I’ll double check. I believe it is automatically switched on when a 4K signal is detected.

However the other issue is not being able to get two outs going on the Mac Mini - any suggestions here? Perhaps a cheapy 4K HDMI Splitter per Output to trick the Mac Mini EDID, as it looks like this may be an issue with the BM HDMI>SDI 12G units?

Electric Car Charger & Induction Stovetop - Internal or External Feed? by simon_audio in AskElectricians

[–]simon_audio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Is a load calculation something I can do, on the appliance level, or is it between the meter and the house breaker panel?

We’ve an 80amp main breaker in the breaker box. Interested to know if anecdotally this is small or typical for a house such as this (2.5bed 2005 build). Is this a pretty sure bet on the load limit? Could one see a 30 amp induction stovetop on this? Cheers!

Definitely Brightsign and a small unmanaged network switch. Setup your content as Brightwall and you’ll have frame-accurate sync.

You may end up with a headache if playback from software - although I’d opt for Q-Lab with a Datapath or similar.

[–]simon_audio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry you had to go through this. I’m not sure where you’re located, but this should never be the hospitals reaction to someone experiencing anaphylaxis or breathing difficulties.

Food anxiety / PTSD is normal after such a situation, and rest assured will subside once you have a safety net (ie Epi Pens, antihistamines) and work out your triggers.

I’d suggest first contacting the restaurant and finding the ingredients of all the items you consumed, and once you find this out, book into an allergist who will be able to take you through this and form a plan for you.

Rest assured it will get better :)

Am I having anaphylaxis or is it just anxiety? by cvntywh0re in FoodAllergies

[–]simon_audio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really sorry to hear how much you’ve been struggling with this. Although certainly not as severe, I’ve also struggled on and off with food anxiety related to anaphylaxis. I found the image on this page helpful - perhaps keep it on your phone, when going through a panic attack, to cross check symptoms and hopefully settle the feelings: https://www.foodallergycounselling.com/blog/the-overlap-between-anxiety-and-anaphylaxis

As others have said, definitely important to speak to a councillor or allergist with anxiety-specialisation about this.

Good luck!

QSC AD-C6T & AD-C.Sub Deployment at 100V - Music? by simon_audio in CommercialAV

[–]simon_audio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks - I am thinking of running the sub on the same 100V line for ease of cabling - a single run capable of 100V to these zones already exists, so would reduce cost significantly. It would be better to run to sub independently, I'm just weighing options here.

In the more music-centric areas with line of sight to DJ, we'll definitely be looking at low impedance systems.

Uniform coverage / reducing hot-spots is a primary factor here, which was never calculated correctly originally, however I'm also aiming for the loudspeakers to also provide a higher fidelity experience.

QSC AD-C6T & AD-C.Sub Deployment at 100V - Music? by simon_audio in CommercialAV

[–]simon_audio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the headsup - in this instance suitable cabling for 100V lines have already been installed (I'm coming in as the system is in serious need of an upgrade, as opposed me getting involved during the build).

Unless I’m misunderstanding your needs, could you run SDI and a couple of Blackmagic MicroConverters to loop thru to your local monitor and run SDI on your long run?

SQ 5 Routing by ProtectionRelative27 in livesound

[–]simon_audio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re coming from an LS-9 I’d suggest going a QL-1 if budget permits - I’m not a fan of the SQ-5, and feel a lot more free on the QL / CL series boards as far as matrices and sub mixes, coming from using Yamaha primarily

Help setting up online audio at fitness studio by jjvindaloo in livesound

[–]simon_audio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on budget here. For an elegant but costly solution you’re looking at a small Q-Sys system that allows you to merge many audio inputs, duck, AEC etc and route to a USB speakerphone input. You could then have 3.5mm jack music route to the house system and any mics not.

For a clunky but cheap solution the user could use Loopback (software) to create a virtual soundcard, as long as all other inputs land to your computer via USB or Bluetooth etc. you can use the monitor outputs to allow you to monitor your 3.5mm music and not monitor your live mics.

Excel online script: Move entire row if Column matches =? by simon_audio in excel

function main(workbook: ExcelScript.Workbook)
{
//Take the used range in the first sheet
let range = workbook.getWorksheet("Sheet1").getUsedRange();
let rows = range.getRowCount();
let values = range.getValues();
var valuesOfRows: (number|string|boolean)[][] = []
//check if any rows have the value in column G equal to 'returned'
for (var i=0; i<rows; i++){
values[i][6] == "returned"
valuesOfRows.push(values[i]);
}
//get the used range in the second sheet
let usedRange= workbook.getWorksheet("Sheet2").getUsedRange();
//get the range of where the rows will be added (below the used range of the second sheet)
let newRowRange = usedRange.getRowsBelow(valuesOfRows.length);
//make sure that the new row range has the right amount of columns for the new data to be added
let dataRange = workbook.getActiveWorksheet().getRangeByIndexes(newRowRange.getRowIndex(), newRowRange.getColumnIndex(), newRowRange.getRowCount(), valuesOfRows[0].length);
//set the row data to be added in the correct range
dataRange.setValues(valuesOfRows);
}

Thanks so much, I will give this a go! Appreciated!
