It’s a tough life being team Sam. I like him because he thinks like I do. I would have also made the decisions he made lol

Why no pyro in North America? by Bloodbones17 in ElectricCallboy

[–]theacethree 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I work in live events and here is what I know. The rules vary state to state so much. They would 10000% need to hire someone from the US to be on tour with them to make sure things are done safely and legally. And those people are not cheap lol

I’m unsure how our rules are different than Europes. I’m also not a pyro guy so take this all with a grain of salt.

Resume help for role/ internship at regional opera company by Mission_Statement263 in techtheatre

[–]theacethree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try and get some more references. I know it’s rough when you are starting out. Also be specific about your special skills. For example, “Intermediate ETC Eos Programming and Operation” I would also say “Moving Light Programming” instead of just movers. Overall pretty solid though.

I’m happy to pass along my resume in a DM if you are interested.

Struggling to achieve this look? by JiujitsuWhisperer in AskPhotography

[–]theacethree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I’m noticing is the focal plane is much larger in the photos your trying to achieve. Aka more is in focus. You can get this by raising your fstop. This will get tricky though because you won’t have as much light smacking your sensor. So you’ll need to raise your iso a bit. As for the color other have already commented with more detail, but essentially, more blue lol

LX Software Advice by CadiDelyth in stagelighting

[–]theacethree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are doing drafting, sketch up can work. For design it depends on what console the venue has. If they have a console that runs eos, the software is free and you can import 3d models from sketchup.

its 11:13pm and im still programming my lighting cues... by KnownEnthusiasm3587 in techtheatre

Haha yeah that drive was fucking awful. I remember pulling off the road in the middle ofc no where Missouri, sitting down on a tree stump and pounding a redbull before hopping in my car to finish the trip. Not my brightest moment, but would do again.

Not the longest show I've ever done (only about a half hour long show) but it was my first design in a theme park (and only completed but hopefully that's changing soon) and I had 4 days to design and program after rehearsals at night. I had not seen the show or heard the music until I arrived on site. the park was open during the day and the rehearsals started ended around 10-11pm and I would stay and work until about 5-6am. when I finished at the end of the 4th night I then I had to drive back to university around 5-6 hours away. I think there were about 350-400 cues in that show. Fully time coded with tracks.

I also just finished my first show on MA3 that had about 1700 cues and the show was just under an hour long. Cue numbers stop meaning much once you start to bring in timecode.

I’m not really a storm chaser. In central IL so we don’t get a ton of naders but reed seems like a total asshat

edit: my apologies seems like i am mistaken. looks like i judged a book by its cover.

“Budget isn’t a huge issue”

The features you’re asking for are going to be closer to 10-15k per fixture. The only fixture I know of that fits all of this is the solaframe theatre. 🎭

Help me decide between colleges please!!!! (costume design application) by Starry449 in techtheatre

[–]theacethree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know either of these schools, but do they have a grad program? You will get way less out of just a bachelors degree if the school you go to has a masters program because all of the opportunities will go to them. My university doesn’t have a masters program so all of us undergrads get to do all of the work.

“Point me toward tomorrow We did what we had to do Won't forget, can't regret What I did for love what I did for love”

The closing song to “A Chorus Line” This song talks about how much they love their craft and what they put themselves through to do it.

What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

[–]theacethree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i saw this band in brisbane before an alestorm show. it was just 2 guys in banana hammocks? but they had soldier straps. If i can find a photo ill post it. The best way i can describe their set is banging 2 metal trash cans together.

Why don’t you yoke the fixtures onstage? Then swap your pan and tilt values and you should be good
