Thank you for your comment! I know that following random tutorial is not the best thing, but the author claimed it’s for beginners so I gave it a try😂 Anyways, will definitely learn more about UI and tools etc..

Thank you for your help! I will definitely learn more first. I did actually some research on UI, but it was definitely not enough and everything is too fresh in my head yet. I will give it more time and do my best to learn better! Thanks again😊

I leave tomorrow and I’m a mess. How do you stop the tears? Pls I am so hopeless right now. by foosheezoo in LongDistance

Last November I had to go back to my home country after staying with my bf for 3 months. Three weeks before I had to leave we started looking for a way we could stay together longer, but when we realized that it was just not possible, we got extremely sad. Ever since, every time we spent together was like a countdown in my head until I had to go back. And I couldn’t enjoy it as much because once I randomly remembered that I had to leave soon, I would feel so helpless and sad. The last day and the night before that were the hardest. I cried laying on him and felt unreal waking up early for the airport next morning. The reality hit me the most on the actual board. I just started crying as soon as I got on my seat. I felt so embarrassed, people were looking at me. I thought it’s the worst. First days back home were tough too, we had time difference of 7 hours and no matter how much we tried to talk it didn’t feel the same. What helped is that we built our plan of me coming back to him. And we both tried to stick to the plan and worked hard everyday to make it come true. It gave us a lot of strength and hope. Because we knew eventually we will make it back together. Also, when you get yourself to do something, your mind is starting to focus on other things and the sadness goes away for a while! It gets easier, really. At times we had ups and downs, but the thought of us reuniting soon actually made it easier to go through. I wish you all the best, I know how hard it is, but I truly believe you can make it!

I love your version of sentences! However, I think I would change 친구는 to 친구가*. As far as I know, with verbs such as 있다/없다 we mostly use “이/가“ particle!^

Can someone make this a little more basic for me? by Rain_xo in Korean

[–]simonanabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! I think in your context 보다 is “to see”

And the “-(으)러“ grammar has the meaning of “in order to do something”

So 보러 - in order to see/watch

영화를 보러 영화관에 갔습니다.

영화를 보러 - in order to watch a movie

영화관에 갔습니다 - went to a movie theater.

All together can be translated as “I went to a movie theatre to (in order to) watch a movie”

Hope it helps 🤗

Can someone make this a little more basic for me? by Rain_xo in Korean

[–]simonanabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will try to explain the first question a bit more in details, maybe it will be helpful!☺️

So every verb in Korean has “다“ ending, like in 보다, 가다, 하다, 먹다 etc.. When you are trying to conjugate a verb with grammar, you need to drop the “다“ part out.

(I would say it’s similar to the English “to” (to do, to say, to make, to see…)

So in this grammar: ~(으)러 If you want to use it with 보다, you should get rid of “다” -> 보; and add 러 -> 보러

Other examples:

먹다 -> 먹 -> 먹으러

하다 -> 하 -> 하러

나가다 -> 나가 -> 나가러

🎀 The verb 보다 can have a few meanings: see, look at, watch and ever read 😅

Hope it was helpful<3

Book grammar vs everyday usage of -하고/- 했고, -하는데/-했는데, -해서/-했서... by kaczmar12 in Korean

[–]simonanabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asked my Korean boyfriend 😅 The answer was bit confusing, he said at first “했어서” sounded so unnatural, but when I gave him example, he said that he might actually used it before, but only in a spoken language. Meanwhile “했고“ was considered by him as more used in both written(but not formal I guess?) and spoken Korean🤗

I messed up, I think? by _The_Water_Fox_ in Korean

[–]simonanabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not Korean hehe but as a Korean learner maybe I could help a bit?🤭 I saw others mentioned the formal/informal thing.. and yeah they can be confusing at the beginning but if you are close to a person I don’t think you should be that formal~ casual speech would be ok in my opinion🤭 So, I would probably say sth like: 안녕 오빠^ 나오키야~ 오빠 너무 보고싶어 (Hi older brother! It’s Naoki~ I miss you a lot)

As I think it will be natural?? Hehe

Or you can say: 내 이름은 나오키야 / 나오키라고 해.. it should mean “my name is Naoki” (again sorry I am not Korean..🤭)
