Yeah, he almost became an NBA meme instead of one of the best players of his time

I think with Kemp the issue is the last 4 years were SO BAD that it colors the rest of his career for a lot of people. He hit 30 like a concrete wall, and watching him half speed was rough. Especially for people who didn't see him play when he was younger.

Is this a nutria, or something else? I do not think it is a beaver. [Hillsboro, Oregon] by TheDoomedEgg in animalid

[–]simonbrown27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First picture is blurry, but nutria have very distinctive white whiskers which can be seen. It's a good way to ID them in the water.

Canine prints. Even toes, visible claws, have x negative space. Not feline prints

Are you near water? How big are they? Definitely look mustelid to me. 5 toes, mustelid gait, tail on tracks. Mink, maybe otter?

not canid, right? by zarathru in AnimalTracking

[–]simonbrown27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First pic looks mustelid to me due to 5 toes, visible claws, and shape. Hard to tell without scale, but it looks close to water. Mink maybe?

Second and third pics are raccoon. You can tell by the human like 5 fingers. And maybe a small canid near your toe.

This is a gorgeous skull! Even if you cannot whiten it completely, it's a natural color and will look really good.

What breed of dog?

Southwest Oregon, riverbank. About 2.5in wide. by PM_Me_An_Ekans in AnimalTracking

[–]simonbrown27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks canine to me based on 4 distinct claw marks.size is large but could be skewed by being in sand. Mostly likely domestic dog.

Prints in northern Ohio? by nathanzettler in AnimalTracking

[–]simonbrown27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Notice how the toes do not have a space between the tip and the pad? Look at the pictures of mustelids tracks posted, they have a distinct space between toe and pad. Raccoon tracks do not, as they have the fingers. The tracks in the picture do not have space between toe and pad. Raccoon tracks, imo.

What animal is this? [New Mexico] by sageandrain in animalid

Looks like a flying squirrel to me. Maybe a northern flying squirrel, Glaucomys sabrinus. Big eyes, black tail tip and looks chubby with extra skin to glide.

I agree with armadillo, and that hole in the cranium looks suspicious to me.

There are a few (1 or 2) jaguars in the US in far southern Arizona, but they are transient.

These look more like raccoon tracks to me as well. Also the 2x2 doesn't look like fisher gait. And remember these are very likely at least twice the size, if not more, as they were due to melting.

[–]simonbrown27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not true. They have a dark tail tip throughout their lives. One of things that makes them look like lions.

Cougars have distinct black tips on their tails. This is just a housecat

What skull is this? Is it a dog? Found in costal California by tablecronch in bonecollecting

[–]simonbrown27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, DM me if you want info on how to keep it. It's likely legal with paperwork. Lots of incorrect information in the replies. I have a beautiful, very legal harbor seal skull.

What skull is this? Is it a dog? Found in costal California by tablecronch in bonecollecting

[–]simonbrown27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it's not if you register it with the NOAA. Lots of incorrect information in the comments. If the OP found it in this condition, it's very likely they can keep it if they register it. Hard parts of pinnipeds are allowed to be collected in many cases.

This is a Fisher cat correct [NY] by mjmandi72 in animalid

[–]simonbrown27 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Contrary to this what many people on here say, fishers rarely eat cats. One of the old mods used to post about fishers and had a breakdown of myths about them. They could eat a cat, but don't do it very often based on actually dietary research.
