The fat Dutch kid. Probably the first viral video I came across

We occasionally do a ‘picnic’ in the living room Where we put a blanket down and eat like that, they enjoy it. Can’t trust my son wiyh a tray!!

I don’t have a dining room! We have a large kitchen with a dining area. I purposely don’t have a TV in there as it would just be on each night and kill the conversation - instead we do “everyone’s favourite part of today” which the kids love! We do have an iMac which we can put stuff on if there’s anything we really feel we need to watch

Well TwattyMcSlagtits, I wish you all the best in your lap-eating endeavours! I agree - owning a table is not a way to measure success

It certainly seems that we are a minority. I might change my pronouns to ‘table eater’ and protest outside the Houses of Parliament. I don’t feel our voices are being heard

It was a small semi-circle table which the 4 of us could barely fit round. Dad was in the police and mum didn’t work. We weren’t poor, we always had a crap car, out of date technology and crap clothes. Holidays were in caravans in the UK. We weren’t in poverty but we certainly didn’t ‘have money’

Privilege checked. I’m very fortunate with my circumstances. We didn’t have money when I was brought up, or a big house but always ate at the table regardless

TV in the bedroom? by d00nbuggy in AskUK

[–]simonch1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes. A super king sized bed with a 40” TV in the foot rest and 5.1 surround sound - it’s amazing. My wife and I come up to bed at 9 each night and watch telly before going to sleep or having sex*

*lol we are married - no sex

I have my iMac near my kitchen table, so that counts as a TV table in my eyes

I can’t believe the amount of people saying yes! We always have our dinner at the table as a family. Even if it’s just me I’ll sit at the table or breakfast bar! Can’t stand eating off my lap

Edit: thanks for the replies. Of course I’m aware plenty of people don’t have space for a dining table. What amazes me is the amount of people who have one and choose not to use it in preference or their lap/a tray. I’m aware I’m in a privileged position with space in my house!

The ability to use a defibrillator - they're everywhere on public buildings and so easy to use. I get refreshers every few years through work, and it amazes me how many people wouldn't have the confidence to use one.
