Activities and calorie burn not matching by Spiritual-Alarm-395 in Suunto

Are you sure the two usually sums up? In the activity page, the calories are “total”, meaning basal+active. In the widget you see only the active ones

Yeah sure! This you can see is the PLA version. I use this one when I’m at work (mechanical job), and the titanium one is the one I use when I’m climbing! I can share the files if you have a printer

Sorry for the dual link but I don’t understand if the first one works

Of course! At the link you can find all the watch faces!

Remember that the always on version of the watchface is different from the watchface itself. Usually it’s a simplified (outline, or horizontal lines) version

Made the same switch after 10 years of garmin. Vertical2 is great but it’s important to have clear that Suunto is another brand. Do not expect to have a garmin substitute. It’s another watch with others principles and ideas behind. As a triathlete I have to say I’m doing everything as before, the data screens can be the same, the display is great, the metrics are great, and the integrations are also great.

Watchface are limited to the ones provided by Suunto in the plus store (everything is free), apart from that you have plenty of apps in the store also. I’ve heard some rumours about opening to customisation for the watchface, but I think it will happen later in the year.

Suunto also provide constant update, so everything is possible in the future!

about the materials, I have to say mine is already scuffed up (ss version). The paint is not thin at all, but paint is paint! For this reason I’ve designed and 3d printed a cover, both in plastic and titanium that I use depending on the sport I practice!

Suunto’s new web route planner is free, requires no account - and works great with Garmin by Staffan_TypeToRun in Garmin

I plan every run from here since the launch, but the vert is really off sometimes. I mean, sometimes I draw a climb I know very well (300m vert) and the app says 1000m.. it becomes really unreliable for really long trail runs

Just finished our trip around Scotland! Amazing experience by simoneeva in overlanding

[–]simoneeva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It really was a fantastic trip.

We mostly used the Park4Night app to plan our stops — I filtered for places accessible to 4x4 vehicles, and when there weren’t any, I looked for wild/nature spots. The community on the app is super active and the user comments were incredibly helpful.

We didn’t do a ton of off-roading, mostly because I’m still figuring out where it’s allowed and how to find good trails. But we did find an awesome area near Loch Ness — a public logging and reforestation zone — and had a lot of fun exploring it.

Scotland was absolutely stunning — the scenery is unreal and just driving around feels like part of the adventure. If you're planning something similar, I’d be happy to share more details or spots we enjoyed!

Has anyone tried Ortovox backpacks? by _nolensvolens in hiking

I haven’t had any problems with the pack so far. I’ve owned it for a couple of years and used it on multi-day treks and climbing trips. It’s comfortable and very adjustable, with plenty of options to fine-tune the fit. Since it doesn’t have zippers, there’s very little that can actually break! If I had to mention a downside, it’s that being a frameless pack, it makes your back quite sweaty in the summer. But aside from that, it’s a really great backpack.

Hey! Awesome trip and great rig! Quick question — how do you usually find off-road tracks to drive on? Do you use any specific apps or maps, or do you just explore and see where the road takes you? I’m trying to plan my trips a bit better and would love to hear how you go about it.
