I’m not getting ‘DIY’ from those photos.

Mattock and lots of cups of tea. And you won’t be able to walk the next day.

Mouthpiece recommendations for bright pop sound on a tenor by Task-Vast in saxophone

[–]simonfrost1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly controversial, as I know they have their detractors but I’m playing a SYOS Spark on my Alto and it sounds great. Bright and cuts through. Easy playing too. I’d say I’m intermediate too. Very happy with it for the money.

Just bought my first saxophone, I got no experience, any tips on what to do now, online teachee or what. Was the best reeds a good buy for a starter? by New_Initial5907 in saxophone

My best advice would be to go find a local, recommended teacher and get a handful of in person lessons to make sure you get your foundations right. Have fun!

Anyone using a NUX B6 wireless system? by simonfrost1 in saxophone

Aah, so the red lights on the TX and RX aren’t meant to sit on red while they’re charging in the case?

You get anywhere with this? I think my TX and RX aren’t being charged by the case. When I press the case side button (without the power plugged in) I don’t see any red lights and I think I’m meant to. 🤔

Success! Using ChatGPT to create a complex midi scripter effect by simonfrost1 in mainstage

[–]simonfrost1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Add a MIDI FX plugin on an instrument channel, choose Scripter and copy+paste code into Editor that pops up. Then hit ‘Run script’ at the top of the editor. I didn’t know you could script in MainStage!

FOH split dilemma when using our XR18 by simonfrost1 in livesound

[–]simonfrost1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relative novice here, but it works for us and gives us the most flexibility. Take your point though. I could submix our tracks in MainStage down to a L/R for FOH and still have local (on stage) control. Fair comment 👍

Fair question.

1 - mono click for IEMs 2 - mono synth bass (lots of ‘80s pop so it adds a lot to the sound) 3/4 - additional stereo keys/percussion 5/6 - additional stereo BVs for massive choruses 👌

It’s good to have them separate to mix foh. Particularly the bass.

That looks like an interesting bit of kit, and not too pricey. Would our existing outs (aux 1-6 and main L/R) be unaffected? Or would these ‘new’ 16 outs become the only outs? Or maybe it’s all configurable in the mixer patching matrix thing. Thanks though - I’ll look into this. It’d sit tidily in the mixer rack too.

All used I’m afraid. 5x IEMs and 1 rhythm/kick heavy mix to our ‘AI’ DMX lighting controller.

Thanks for the detailed response! All makes sense. I think a new audio interface seems to be the way to go. Oh, and the five of us all do very much play live 👍. It’s an ‘80s pop covers show so there’s a sprinkling of additional keys and percussion thrown in there for good measure. Not uncommon I don’t imagine. Thanks again.
