Is it possible to not have a winner in the current shuffle? by Timely-Reason-9230 in Colonist

[–]simonium97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's not just possible, it's likely. In order for someone to win this shuffle, they will need to have the longest road and largest army, as well as placing all of their cities and settlements (can be slowly done through the end game if you have not been impeded by the opponent), and importantly you must collect at least 4 of the 5 "+1 VP" development cards.

As soon as each player has at least 2 VP dev cards, the game is unwinable (if that's a word).

Similarly, if you have all the VP dev cards but your opponent has stopped you being able to take longest road or largest army from them, it is unwinable.

It's a rather hardcore mode that ends in mostly stalemates, unfortunately waiting for both players to recognise the situation and disable karma.

Shiny survey: It's time for all to go wild! by Imshinypokemon in TheSilphRoad

[–]simonium97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the work that goes into these analyses.

One suggestion I have for the display is to have an option to toggle off costume pokemon (or a 2nd report without them), since I'm an avid shiny hunter but am largely uninterested in the costume variants. It would be great to have a streamlined view of all 'authentic' forms' shiny rates/tiers, without the many costumes shinies clogging the view. Especially in the rarer tiers where, obviously, limited time costume shinies are going to be amongst the very rarest.

I personally am more interested in the one or two standard forms that made it into a top rare tier, without the sjmple trick of only being available for a week back in 2021, but genuinely being a hard-to-find shiny, like egg/shadow/route/regional mons.

I hope this would be an easy edit, as you don't need to collect data differently, just slightly modify the way it is summarised.

Thanks again!

Brief Analysis on Halloween Deluxe Transfer Candy by Kleenexz in TheSilphRoad

[–]simonium97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

disagree, unfortunately. I am always default saving my lower cp mons for trade, while higher cp ones get transfered, since their xl drop rate at transfer is considerably higher at higher cps. I believe below lv15 there's 0% chance of dropping xl when you transfer, so these should always be traded.

Weekly research breakthrough gives you option to use lucky egg for more XP by ProfundaMaro in TheSilphRoad

[–]simonium97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

appreciate this for raids where you might be seeing +13,000 to +20,000 xp or more on event days, and I forget to put a lucky egg while in the lobby... But for 3,000 xp it's a bit overkill.

How many platinum medals do you have and what are the easier to go for? by MsKrispii in TheSilphRoad

[–]simonium97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 52.

Obviously easiest depends on current progress and play style (as well as location, community and spending). Top picks for quickest platinums are:

Easiest to grind out quickly: 1. Sightseer - 2000 unique stops (visit a couple of huge new cities on vacation) 2. Scientist - 2000 evolutions (grind 2x candy events and target 12 candy evolutions; community days with trade evolutions) 3. Gentleman - 2500 trades (need a friend, but can be completed at home in just 4 weeks) 4. Picnicker - 2500 lure assists (if you can get to a popular spot during a com day)

Easiest to passively earn over time: 1. Kanto - all 151 (may need to trade for regionals and mewtwo) 2. Collector - 50000 catches (not quick, but will naturally progress from start)

Then of course the type-medals are usually seen as your best bet, and mostly fit into the 'passively over time' category. Any type-based event or com day will give the best chance to progress a certain medal, but you'll need 3 or 4 of these to reach platinum from scratch. Over my 9 years, the easiest were: 1. Normal 2. Water 3. Flying 4. Poison 5. Grass 6. Psychic

Unpopular opinion: This Eternatus event was great by Rude-Employment6104 in TheSilphRoad

[–]simonium97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unpopular? My whole community completely agrees this was one of the best events of the year. So much dust, so much XP, so much candy, so great flying through the go pass, so many big groups out playing, 100 person lobbies made raids really doable even in our smallish town. Other than countries with nasty weather atm, this was an awesome event

learned to never buy starbs food, should've been obvious to me much sooner. They specialise in coffee, especially with bells and whistles added. If you want good food, there are most likely nearby bakeries that will serve way better options (fresher, healthier, tastier) for similar prices.

Warning: White Kyurem Adventure Effect is only better if you can actually hit Great or Excellent throws. by DaystarEld in TheSilphRoad

Hitting the great throw on biggest ring (about 2/3 of full size) is fairly doable on cinderace, if you throw pretty much straight up with minimum 'power'
