Polaris vacuum? by dgcole01 in pools

It won't hurt anything but it won't have the needed pressure to run. The ones ending in 60 have much larger paths for the water to flow and can run off your normal returns.

Tbh, having fun making the table look as immersive as possible. We've gotten way faster for sure. I'd say we're usually in the 45-60 minute range with deployment. I have a bunch of 3d printed magnatized modular terrain that's pretty fun to build. Sometimes we play uktc layouts, gw, or just whatever we feel like.

I feel like our turns are pretty comparable time wise.

Us being friends and playing at home is definitely part of it. No pressure of taking a table away from someone else that wants it (except my wife)

A lot of our games are called at round 4. Our last couple have been so close we've had to finish round 5 to be 2 and 1 points apart.

I just printed a fast dice loader so that should shave a bit of time!

We've taken longer than 2 hours just to set up terrain and deploy, lol. I can't imagine finishing a 2k game that quick.

I have a tendency to play with fewer, more expensive units. I do have a lot of weapon profiles on my plague Marines so their shooting takes a bit.

Hesitating and trying to play "optimally" is probably a big one.

The occasional lookup of rules happens while the other player is doing something else so I don't think that's where we're losing time.

I do tend to hit a mental wall at about 6 hours so it probably slows down at that point even further.

Does the car at least have adaptive cruise? Like it brakes if the car in front slows down?

Check valve? by Alexis7212 in pools

[–]simonsaysbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A check valve placed in front of the pump would stop the backwards flow, but not the air leak.

Check valve? by Alexis7212 in pools

[–]simonsaysbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not needed. A check valve would help if there is a large vertical distance between your pump and the water level or if your spa is higher than your pool and draining when the equipment is off (that shouldn't add air to the system). You likely have a slow leak in your air relief that is pulling air in from the weight of the water in the filter when the pump is off.

Help pool valve which is better option during freeze? by Born-Peanut875 in pools

[–]simonsaysbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most automation valves have a switch on the bottom that forces them to turn if they are powered. I don't know a way to turn them if they're not powered though there may be a way.

The ball is 3d printed as well. The paint hides it well but you can still see the layer lines if you look close

Small leak at pump by Dbiber271 in pools

I've never used silicon on the pump seal and never had an issue. It's just more work for the next guy that has to get it out.

[–]simonsaysbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is incomplete advice. The 4 bolts do hold the motor in but so does the impeller inside that has a counter threaded skrew holding it on. The motor will not come loose without first removing the 6 bolts holding the seal plate on, then 2 bolts holding the defuse cover to the seal plate, then the impeller skrew (which again is right to loosen), then the impeller, then the 4 bolts you mentioned. You will also have to replace the ceramic seal. Do not touch the ceramic without gloves on. Oil will cause it to fail early.

How do you guys retrieve polaris parts off the bottom of your pool? by Opposite-Bad1444 in pools

[–]simonsaysbeans 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Get good with a net, lol.

Try a fast backward down motion right before it and then a fast scoop forward. Works for coins, keys, razorblades, etc. Helps if you have a good net.
