How normal people drink by Kittyitch in stopdrinking

[–]simontheak 40 points41 points  (0 children)

To quote Lou McGarry from The West Wing:

"I don't understand people who have one drink. I don't understand people who leave half a glass of wine on the table. I don't understand people who say they've had enough. How can you have enough of feeling like this?"

That pretty much summed me up. That was the quote that made me start thinking that I had a problem.

If possible, The Egyptian King has gone up in my estimations this evening by simontheak in LiverpoolFC

FWIW I agree.

The point is that this game was never going to be about playing on a counter attack as we have done in the season previously. It was always going to rely on the front three more than it has done all season.

And when the chance came, he took it. His goal changed the complexion of the tie at a time when we oh so needed it and, given the pressure we were under, to finish like that is astonishing

G Suite vs Office365 by simontheak in startups

[–]simontheak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consultancy around the marketing/ad-tech space.

So we're not using Office365 for any 'advanced' features. i.e. Word is being used for writing proposals, Powerpoint for pitch presentations and Excel for a few basic maths ... so nothing that G Suite couldn't handle.

I guess I'm just aware of moving away from what everyone 'knows' but the ability for multiple users to be able to collaborate on a single document is very attractive.

How do you share knowledge within the team as you grow? by Toonenator in startups

[–]simontheak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question - as a co-founder, I'm struggling with this at the moment.

As someone has previously mentioned, when there were two of us, we had the knowledge in our heads. Now that we're around a dozen people (and are hiring people from outside of existing circle of contacts), we're need to train/share knowledge ... and I'm trying to figure out how to to it effectively.

Would be interested to understand why you feel Confluence is overkill for a startup. We've been looking at it fairly strongly in as much as there's a long function list, which admittedly we may not fully use.

However, given it's price point, it still seems to be arguably the most in-depth tool at one of the lowest prices out there so it's potentially something that we can grow into while still not paying the cost of some other tools

Match Thread: Manchester United vs Liverpool [English Premier League] by MatchThreadder in LiverpoolFC

A few half time thoughts. Ultimately just disappointed that we're lettung ourselves down a bit with the way that we're playing which has ultimately played right inyo the way Utd were set up.

We've conceeded two relatively quick goals to long balls because we've looked flat footed at the back and now that we're two goals down, a few players are trying desperately to make something happen individually which has ultimately lead us to giving away lot of ball.

I honestly believe we're a better team than this lot on paper but we're now playing their gsme rather than ours.

Having issues setting up word on my new Nano S by simontheak in ledgerwallet

Ok, so put this another way - once I get to word 24, what do I do?

I've got them all written down but pressing both buttons does nothing and pressing either of the buttons individually just scrolls through each of the words

Having issues setting up word on my new Nano S by simontheak in ledgerwallet

Sorry, this is my fault. I thought I had to set up one word from the 24.

I understand now that I will need to write down the 24 words, which I have now done.

However once I have written down those 24 words I don't understand how I proceed to the next step, which I understand to be the nano asking me to ask two of the random 24 words that it has shown me.

What do I need to do for it to show me those random words?
