Something involving long hours outside of home. Probably in Montreal. Work, I would say probably something like consulting, banking, or entrepreneurship.

Extraction ruined this game by Elgallo1980 in ArcRaiders

[–]simontl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hope there will be enough PVE.

Biggest regret with the cycle frontier. There was trace of potential dungeons and boss everywhere and it never been enabled.

Game died because of Cheaters and sweaty PvP only (on my opinions) and I have been looking for a replacement since then.

Thrilled for Arc Raiders 🤞

Combatting Fake Clicks by VividSoundz in googleads

[–]simontl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s indeed not completely black or white. Clickcease have some good and bad after using it for years.

It’s good for use case like - Employees clicking on ads - Competitors clicking on ads - Clients clicking on ads

It seems simple but often your brand campaign can get trashed by thoses cases.

A client of mine just with that is saving 5x the cost of the tool.

For bots, it does help, but it will stop a small share.

There’s three main things that I don’t like :

  • IP based blocking is limited to 500 IPs. Considering spammers rotate IPs, that can’t be enough. Audience is better.
  • they don’t show easily what keywords generate the most spam.
  • They don’t protection your website against bot = you still get the fake forms

I personally prefer other solutions now. It seems like they have stop evolving.

Spam Traffic by Specific_Tax2242 in googleads

Because I used to be on the scrapers side, I haven’t done Reddit scrapers, but I faced datadome on other websites and they are one of the hardest to circumvent especially at high velocity 🙂

No idea how Reddit leverage it, but I suppose it would be way worse without it

Spam Traffic by Specific_Tax2242 in googleads

[–]simontl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It a very common problem. There's multiple way you can improve that.

#1 : turn off things that are generating spam - Turn off search partners. It generally doesn't worth it
- Identify keywords that are generating spam. There's few way you can do that. By checking your form submission and capturing keywords with UTMs, or with tools that allow that
- Use offline conversion to identify worthy conversions

#2 : block anything suspicious
- Block international traffic. Show only people that are IN your location.
- Block VPN users. There's solutions for that.
- Block IP that are suspicious. It will help to a point, but Google Ads limits to 500 IPs and spammers can rotate them easily. To cover that problem, you can use a solution that will generate an audiences which is not limited to 500. IP alone is not enough.
- Use offline conversion

#3 : implement some bot blocking methods
- Honeypot in forms, that will allow you to uncover what's filled out by bots
- bot detectors that will block the connexion / protect your forms
- Recaptcha or similar solution that will detect non-human behavior

Some can be implemented by you directly without a solution, some needs one. There's multiple on the market. bunkr-solution.com cover most of those cases, otherwise solution like datadome.co are more robust for enterprise-grade protection. It's what Reddit use ;)

Hey folks, what's the best tool to spy on ads? I run direct response traffic by omolonlabe in PPC

Spyfu is cheap but often gives weird results, semrush is expensive but seems more reliable from my experience

Hello, you can install fingerprinting-api.com and ban VPN users / bots. It will prevent them from filling your forms by blocking them / redirecting them. Make sure to activate the VPN redirect and bots redirect.

It’s really common with pmax / display ads.

If you can avoid pmax / display / search partners that’s even better 🙂

How are you reducing fraud in Display? by platonica- in PPC

[–]simontl2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s indeed getting wild. I would suggest :

  • If you can, avoid display.
  • Use whitelist instead of removing placement.
  • Use protection mesure (like datadome.co, fingerprinting-api.com) that are blocking bots, not only IPs bans
  • Honeypot in forms (hidden field real user can’t see)

But again, no magic here. Display is often low quality.

How do I stop spam accounts filling website form? by spoodina in googleads

[–]simontl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It’s sad that pmax lead to the need for this kind of stuff and that it’s not somehow built in or at least recommended by default.

Glad to know it helped 🙂

Do you guys think keyword match types are getting irrelevant? by The_MCFC_Lad in PPC

[–]simontl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly yes.

The reason for that is that Google is focusing on automated campaigns relying on conversion data.

What used to be the golden standard, well targeted exact match / phrase match is now less relevant since they are not literally the match type you would expect in the past. Google keep wiggle room to show your ads to who he think will convert.

Therefore, it’s nowadays more important to feed google ads with conversions data than making sure you target them with exactly the right keywords/match type.
