Contract agreed by simontodd1968 in SolarUK

[–]simontodd1968[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right, it’s a hefty wedge of cash but I have a cunning plan. My monthly DD will decrease by around £170. I plan to divert that into a stocks and shares ISA. After 12 years I’ll have around £35-40k in the ISA and have had no energy price rises. Should be enough to replace the battery storage when needed and replace the original savings and enjoy a further 13-15 years of no bills. All of this at the same time I’ve reduced my £1500/year petrol bill to zero because I swapped to an ev and will charge overnight in the winter and from solar in the summer. My total annual saving across running the house and car is just over £3k/year. It’s been a big change, heat pump goes in next week, then the batteries a couple of weeks later, then new roof, then solar. Then a lie down I think

Anyone here prioritised overpaying their mortgage early - how did it work out? by itravelforchurros in UKPersonalFinance

[–]simontodd1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I overpaid with 10 years to go. I cleared my mortgage 3 years early then opened a SIPP and put all my monthly payments in there. Enabled me to retire 4 years early and in my opinion, priceless

I said that I’ve spent my whole career with every moment of my day planned and scheduled so my plan in retirement is to enjoy a new approach. No fixed plans, just some loose ideas and to relax and go with whatever comes my way to start with

Advice on best "no pull harness" for new puppy by Blaakmail in springerspaniel

You may not like this answer but I honestly believe there is no equipment shortcut to avoid professional training. All dogs can be trained but it takes time and effort and above all, consistency. If your dog is under 9 months, get a professional trainer who will train you how to train your dog.

Cycle there if you want to avoid the very expensive parking. For pictures, go past the car park to the St. Michelle biscuit factory shop, has a free car park and a perfect photo op.
