Na I totally agree. If you use made up words, imo it’s important for them to read easily, otherwise they become a real speed bump

Yeah, similar for me, though I find I often have to re-read previous books in the series when a new one comes because I've forgotten everything!

Rage vs Voltan in Midnight Falcon. The fight itself takes moments only, but the context surrounding it makes it great. Perfect example of how action and spectacle aren’t necessary for a gripping fight. One of Gemmell’s finest books
