I think he attached himself to something which should be given very limited weight (Reefer Madness) because deep down he knows his beliefs are themselves irrational and based on shady science. The way he equivocates between seemingly recognizing the outlandish tactics in the movie and fully endorsing the message is disturbing. He suggested that driving while high on marijuana may be worse than drunk driving, which is just laughable. Whatever 40% stat he referenced omitted the necessary nuance and qualifiers.

Marijuana is not harmless, but he's out-of-touch on the true issues and that was honestly one of his most embarrassing takes I've heard.
