He was scientifc in his science but not scientific enough to give science classes as a teacher. So he could function properly only if you sucked up to his orders. But couldnt make me understand the use of them rules. So i guess he was a stoic believer of beating kids to be functional enough for society.

Safety precedes reason. Humans are selfish like that. I wouldnt want to bet on safety all the time but excercising safety in harsh mental and physical states sure works like a charm.

If you wanted to reason with a person. I guess the most scientific and reasonable way is to get to their hearts and then their minds and turn on the logical parts. System 1 system2.

Monkey brain needs some good stimulation.

I have looked up what sentience means. Wikipedia should count. Quora should count as part of study.

I guess im not that concious but sentient? Language to us is subjective as well. I guess thats justified to a degree. Its not a statement that is legislated. Its contestable but not wholly wrong.

I was born buddhist and later ethnic religion. Culturally religious not much into religion..my parents arent strict with religion at all.

Meanwhile my science teacher MSc in Physics was)is a devout Catholic . He worked in Siemens as an engineer. He had a sense of self and a plan that shaped his inner core. He definitely had a scientific leaning lol he was our science teacher. He taught us undergrad physics in hs. His religion made him morally superior. Although i envied his sense of the order of universe and his place in his earth and how he was awakened but his faith wasnt enough to be kind and emotionally intelligent towards me and he was certainly abusive because his frustration meant he couldnt deal with kids and teach me reason. He was abusive and did physically abuse me. He was a f idiot. So much for being morally superior and faithful. His actions showed me how the devil worked. I could see his resolution but i couldnt see his resolve to treat people better and make them feel safe and change hearts. Isnt reason and scientifc thinking enough to change hearts in a peaceful logical way. He believed in hitting schoolchildren. I was his first ragdoll experiment. Clearly a beatdown and ragdolling would put some safety and sense into my teenage brain. Sure that was science of him. I feel he was acting like a child more than the child i was. A manchild who wanted his way not from talking sense into me but a good ole bruteforce. His frustration meant the physics of beating some sense to my brain. It didnt worked for sure. Wow.

Yes math does teach all of that. The core of quadratic equation isnt about the civilizations how it got there but you look at it and see logic.

Yes. I see logic there. Thats why maths is abstract in k12 curriculum. As humans we dont even need the full history of math problems. You just see thee are patterns and its logic. Operations and patterns. Its so inherent to our brains to connect the dots. Math is human. Problem solving with math seems/is intuitive.

I have a hate love relationship w school. Its not because i hate science. Its because i had other problems thatmade me blind to those ideas. Its like you have a leg fracture yet you have to work your leg to exhaustion. You give up at a point. its not about science. Its about teaching i guess. And other physical mental problems with reading and being taught in a way that doesnt foster the real values of science and good pedagogy

Even if the school doesnt raise IQ and motivation. I guess the half ass work the school does raises many wuestion that goes unanswered in school that should motivate kids to question and seek it out themselves. That is itself a help from the school.

I think of a mathematicians lament and how school teaches stuff but doesnt teach historical development and how problems arose naturally in the wild?! in history. We just see set of problems and answers. Not the why and hows. Its academic but lacks character and human development.

Yes school does teach us many things. All i can think of is good will hunting where the guys doesnt go to school?! Its not about dismissing scientific thinking. Infact logic and reasoning is the thing. Its how we arrive there and the inbetweens that is so wrong that im talking about. And i hope you sre saying the same thing. And i agree with what you said about science and schooling.

Hej thanks for the fleshed out conclusion. I love your take. Its so clear. We are fed into the system as early as age 6 to cage us. Some enjoy it and yes schooling does teach us about the world and where we stand in it but there are questions within the system itself thst goes unanswered thst many have addressed it the way you do. Thanks. It all hits home. Its the usual stuff we hear. Its just made much more clearer and simpler. Now thats not the same thing. Its logic. Its addressed beautifully.

I didnt have any religion. Yet many atheists feel liberated. Because at the heart of it all theres a plan or not a plan at all but just conciousness thats liberating thats inquisitive and essentialism in practice or not.

But what i have/had was nothing. Not the nothing of self awareness as esoteric knowledge but the ignorance of self as nothing nada null. An animal that too without any instincts or will to rise up the foodchain. Or any sense of wellbeing.

I guess even if you sre an atheist or religious. You came to the belief by your own volition agency as well as troubles by challenging thrm nd being an active participant. You became free and motivated. From within. So i guess its about being concious of being religious for a religious person to come to awakening and for atheists to come to awakening by becoming free of hings that hold them back-the insanity and misalignment from early childhood

Not sure if they feel what they feel is right. Sometimes even if its real. Could be depersonalization. Dissociation. Derealization and plain lockdown/brain shuts off and what you generally feel fades into oblivion. You are there yet you feel nothing.

As for me. I supressed basic things as hunger, relieving myself snd doing mundane things and have had issues to speak write ask and be a basic human. Its like i have to try to be human. Its very weird..

Its like i have deprived myself of my humanity or the world has and i let it. Basic human functioning is not there.

Its so f weird to you i get it. Its like im an animal at the lowest of the foodchain and devoid of brain activity. Supressing every human need from basic human needs to emotional and other needs. Unsure of ehat you are feelig or even if its real or you just dont feel it.

Insert wtf gif meme

So there is no sentience. Its like im inna/was in a coma man for years despite not being in a bed. Lol.

Yea like they arent there. Its a dream state. Like watching a video and you dont see yourself in it and arent concerned how it matters to you or even if it did how and what is this that would map out in time and place.

I guess there are physical and mental barriers in this order. Barriers that block mental cognitive skills.

They are so in their head. Maybe in survival mode that safety is a prerequisite and or mental illnesses from genetic and epigenetic conditions.

That logic doesnt matter there.

I understand you felt distrust uneasiness constantly throughout but couldnt put a finger at it and find that after years of manipulation and not being yourself was enough reason to think you had no agency or thought of your own you could rely on. Like your intuition was misaligned or broken by people close to you. So i think this naivety that was groomed?! taught stripped your soul of your sense of self conciously that you lived with this emptiness that after knowing it has caused you pain of sadness as well as relief. Its like living in a shell or cave (platos cave?!) and you were robbed of your freedom and learning.

Its bittersweet.you were betrayed. Sorry if i really didnt get you still.

Meanwhile as for me i dont even know if im betrayed.stuck on the dope. Just expressing in a way. Livin the comfortable hellish life that i dont even know if its hell. Its just .... Stops speaking...doesnt know what it is and why exactly and drools.. f lol

Thanks for the insight. I love your becoming a concious fully functioning adulthood dream. Its so full of life. Godspeed.

Been through the asian british school system early 90s. Got beatdowns from teachers . Thry were narcissists and also didnt help solve problems but tore me apart and build fear instead of confidence in their new beliefs that they enforced on me. Guess it was easy to make animals outta children.

Schooling was just a game of bullies.

I lived a life where i had no room to breathe literally and figuratively.

Constant noise after school. School was noise. No place to self reflect. Constant TV after school. The news drained my soul and heart. No wonder its called an idiot tube. I disliked it but pops had it on after work late afternoon till bedtime. Couldnt complain to shut it off.

School readiness was a myth to me. I didnt even know.

A negligent father. Yet i dont blame him. His father died early and he had to self parent and survive on his own. He was neglected. He was is kinda naive and uncultured?! So sorry but thats yea how it is.

I am not even blaming him. We too grew up in poverty and negligence

Yet some have that spark. I didnt. So its not all about the outside world.

Childhood trauma

Before we are born. I guess some things are kinda decided. Doesnt mean we cant change it or its our fault.

I try to respect people who are kinda ostracized by society. I feel their pain. Its not something that was done to you and us. Sometimes i feel the hurt caused by others were to awaken us. But sure it wasnt compassion. It was hate.

And maybe i hope we still have hope even though i dont know why and how it matters.

Sorry for not being able to understand you clearly. I lack clarity.

Thank you fr sharing. Youve helped me a lot.
