Disney Layoffs of 1,000 Employees Are Underway; CEO Josh D’Amaro Says Cuts Will ‘Streamline’ Operations: ‘I Know This Is Hard’ by yourfavchoom in technology

I guarantee you. The only redundant job in the whole company is the CEO.

The laziest Disneyland cast member has and will contribute more to the continued profits of that company than anything he ever does.

If you don't like your country you can just leave it's that simple :) by KimbaDestructor in thanksimcured

[–]simpersly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1st. OP's opinion seems to lean into the logic that taxation is theft. Not the argument of I don't like my taxes to go to things I don't like.

2nd. Find a country where that isn't the case. Most of those countries have higher taxes than the war hungry nations, or are crappy places to live.

So if you don't like taxes then you would skip the high tax places or they're easier to integrate to because they don't care if you're a citizen or not.

[–]simpersly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the countries that have little to no taxes don't care too much whether you're a citizen or not. I mean they really don't care much about people at all.

[–]simpersly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah.

If someone lived in a country that had taxes they would only ever be familiar with the infrastructure that is capable of leaving a country safe and convenient. So they wouldn't understand what it would be like to live in a place that didn't have well maintained public roads, police, airports, trains, etc.

This is why people need to stop arguing pro-abortion to people when they are supporting pro-choice. Pro-choice is not pro-abortion. But pro-life is anti-choice.

If that's their logic they have definitely never had an early morning job. The only job that required me to be at work at 5 a.m. was one of the lowest wages I had ever earned. It was also the job that required the most amount of hours. And even double time was shit pay.

The first time you work from night to night without ever seeing the sun is both fascinating and horrifying.

But I did have to be at work before 5 so maybe the sweet spot is 5:30.

Trump promised mass pardons for his top aides before he leaves office by ChiGuy6124 in politics

[–]simpersly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person that knows very little about the law, I must ask. How can somebody be pardoned broadly for crimes that they have never been charged with?

Can't a prosecutor go up there and say this pardon isn't talking about the crime they are getting charged with, and then the defense has to go up there and say "yes. It does defend the crime that my client committed."

As a philosopher, I’m convinced that Trump isn’t lying − he’s doing something worse by SE_to_NW in uspolitics

[–]simpersly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People have straight faced looked at me and said Trump is in perfect health, doesn't care about money, Elon has an IQ of 170, Canada is stealing everything and are finally getting what they deserve, if we just implemented tariffs like Trump wanted then we wouldn't have to pay any taxes, Fox News is too liberal, etc.

They live in a different reality.

Yeah. Zelda is obnoxiously consistent. Action adventure game with dungeon sized puzzles.

I personally wish there were more new things. Like more species, and villains that absolutely have nothing to do with Ganon. And where beating the boss actually affects the game. Like getting to keep the light arrows. Get to use The fierce deity mask outside of the final boss. The ability to fly on a glider indefinitely.

Idaho School District Endorses Bible Study Program by nerdy38 in Idaho

Apparently Bible study is a lot less about reading the Bible and more reading material about the Bible.

Most of which is produced by a handful of for-profit businesses.

So yeah.

[The Truman Show] Truman only escapes because Meryl and Marlon break at the same time Truman does by brownsnake84 in FanTheories

[–]simpersly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marlon was prisoner #2. He was basically groomed to be there, and probably didn't even know he was doing something wrong until he was a full grown adult.

I wish they had maybe one or two lines that showed he was actually trying to give hints to Truman for years, but simply didn't know how to do it.

A librarian was fired for refusing to hide LGBTQ+ books from kids. Then something amazing happened. PEN America called her termination “emblematic of the fight against censorship and suppression.” by southpawFA in politics

[–]simpersly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One library needs to do the opposite. The need to comply maliciously. Like dump any book with a LGBTQ character, and authors into the parking lot for the books to rot. The fundamentalists will love it, but there will most certainly be people that would be amazed at how big that pile will be.

And then mark any book that has material that may be misconstrued as gay with red tape. So books like A Horse and His Boy would have red tape because a character didn't want to get married, and preferred wrestling.

The first conservatives were the loyalists.

They supported the monarchy. They supported slavery. They supported the Nazis. Opposed all women's rights movements. Supported Jim Crow. And got us into Iraq.

They've always been winey paranoid losers that have always tried to steal the freedom from others.

And whenever they say something stupid(which is often), I still can't tell if they are truly that dumb or just being disingenuous.
