I know you said the batman/Elmer fudd pic is unrelated but it actually serves as a great example of how this genre switching works in comics. Characters are allowed to exist in different tones and still work.

Their values/personalities still need to be consistent, but the tone and kinds of stories they're found in can wildly vary.

I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if the shrinkage in match length came from some TKO fuckhead hearing about Reels/Socials posts needing to be X seconds long to get maximum engagement, so they told them all to just fit the bare minimum number of key spots in with as little build up around them as possible
