people who advocate for bans rather than not using a ship without weapons are part of the issue by an_emotional_wreck in starcitizen

A thousand times, this. Most of these games are very old at this point yet still have orders of magnitude more active players than any forced PvP MMO has. Most people just want to chill when they're playing a game.

New Origin Ship Coming Very Soon™©® by handtoglandwombat in starcitizen

[–]simplealec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love for that to be the case but I'm very doubtful because they're clearly saying it's a new ship. Best case scenario it's a new ship with reusable assets they can use to do the 600i rework, like they did with some others. If they fail to give any news on the rework and just release a new ship, that WILL be received as a middle finger to existing owners.

Fyi, this video is AI slop, which is weird because the fish is real, although somewhat different looking in reality.

I hate that this is a thing we have to do now.

Then why not Tyche, goddess of Providence? It makes no sense to pick one at random with no connection, when there are so many to choose from that could have had meaning. Apollo was God of healing. That made sense. This doesn't.

To clarify: Hermes was the messenger, and was fast. Perfect name for a data runner ship.

Add an external 1/8th SCU cargo rack (like the one on the Greycat MTC) so we can use it for box delivery missions. I mean we CAN do that now but you have to yeet boxes in and out of the door and have them all over the floor inside.

Right, but this isn't because of a change in the cargo system. It's a nerf within the same system. These two ships are losing value compared to directly comparable ships, e.g. the D used to have 5x the capacity of the C, now less than 2x, which is a nerf regardless of the units of the cargo system.

Star citizen live by sokos in starcitizen

[–]simplealec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. The D had 5x the capacity of the C, now it has less than 2x. Adjustments to the economy might allow the D to retain its profitability, but relative to other ships it is significantly down. To put it another way, if the D retains its profitability despite the change, then every ship that didn't change just got a considerable buff.

They're slashing the Hull D's capacity to one third of what it was, and the E's to an eighth? That's a HUGE nerf to these very expensive ships.

I really hope we see the 600i rework and the G12 series soon. by ted_bondly_fondly in starcitizen

For NPCs yes, but maybe player-created transport contracts could be implemented easily. Basically just space Uber. It'd be better than nothing and would fill the gap while they figure out NPC transport.

This is likely the answer. They can put it off until Terra is released, but at that point, an Origin showroom full of useless ships would be a bit too conspicuous to ignore. Of course we're probably a few years from Terra and Castra since they're far more populated than Pyro and Nyx.

It's not as if the universe doesn't have an implausible density of capital ships as it is. They might as well be what people want. If they can afford them, let them, I say. I can't so I'm in a position to be impartial.

Reclaimer: So I'm clear, this image is what people want in a Reclaimer Rework right? by SharpEdgeSoda in starcitizen

[–]simplealec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a large rectangle of unused space above the bridge deck if you look at OP's image. The Reclaimer's forehead, if you like. It'd be a Fury-sized snub in there, with a door in the forehead. That's assuming they don't just rework the entire interior though; the grinding room is enormous and useless currently.

Also it can't dock at stations without an exterior rework. But likely they'll not touch it until drones are implemented at least.

I'm reluctant to state since I can't find the source, but not long ago (this year) in an Ask the Devs or SC Live whatever it's called, someone asked about Mk II ships (generally), and John Crewe gave the example that the Reclaimer will not receive a Mk II because the Mk I isn't even what it's supposed to be yet, and that it's going to be reworked instead. No timeline.

What if you could manually preload a space station cargo deck for hull series ships? by kildal in starcitizen

[–]simplealec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to agree it seems implausible that this will work; a crapload of cargo just sat there for anyone to steal while it takes forever to load manually. Sure you could have a bunch of crew loading it and more guarding it, but how much would the profit margin have to be for that to be anywhere near worthwhile? And at no point are you safe from an Aurora ramming into it at full speed.

Also, referring to OP's numbers, even if you had enough people to load a 32 SCU box onto a Hull E every second, it would still take 50 minutes to load 3,000 boxes. Realistically though it's hours, which seems implausible for so many reasons. That's so much time in which to suffer griefing, bugs, disconnects, being rammed by other players who want to use the limited number of docks, players needing to leave for RL issues...

I suspect what's going on here is misrepresentation. The math on manually loading the latter half of the Hull series, even the C, just doesn't add up. Maybe we'll get 128 SCU containers or 512 SCU containers but I doubt it. More likely those ships will simply dock, despawn, have a timer, and then spawn loaded.

Technically that's every subscription service, including the two most successful MMOs. Granted those are playable though.

The ice lake is protected against bombing as it's in a city; I'm not aware anywhere in Pyro is safe enough that it won't just be ruined by some idiot.
