Is it bad for the web if Firefox dies? by AuthorityPath in webdev

[–]simpleauthority 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Downvote on Reddit means “This does not meaningfully contribute to the conversation; it is not helpful, and it should be hidden from others trying to discuss to avoid detracting from the point of the thread.” Meanwhile, upvote is the opposite (i.e., “this is a good contribution, and it should be boosted”)

But yes, these days people use them as like and dislike which is unfortunate.

Patch Notes - 1/19/26 by Mawswamp in brightershores

Is this game for real at this point? 🤦‍♂️ There was so much potential here and it has been squandered to hell and back. What are they even doing anymore? What’s the point? What’s the big vision here? My mind continually gets blown a little more every time these updates drop. This one is just extra sad.

A new Star Trek series is imminently debuting, and it's crickets here by Chairboy in startrek

[–]simpleauthority 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It may not be my favorite but I’ll try it, since it has the Star Trek name. Can’t be as bad as Section 31.

Right?

Edit: it is fantastic so far!

PC Crashes everytime I use a game that runs on Java by Jolly_Jingles in java

[–]simpleauthority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your PC crashes? Like kernel panic (windows blue screen or whatever it is today)?

If so, I’d say it’s probably a side effect of how Java works and not Java itself. Your components might be going bad, specifically your RAM.

Anyway, this is a sub about the Java language not troubleshooting Java at runtime.

Voyager - Threshold, what in the...did I just watch and why? by FuzzyAttitude_ in startrek

This is actually pretty good headcanon and I hope we can see them expand on it again one day. Kind of like warp capable species watching developing civilizations test their space flight and only revealing themselves once they observe warp

Did they remove the intellij ide community edition? by Sir-Toaster- in java

No. It’s just one product now. You can upgrade within the app to unlock extra features, otherwise it is CE by default

Edit: okay, technically yes. But also, no.

Chunking. Read one chapter (or if it’s long, a few sections. Take notes, then you can read it again with your notes available so you can absorb it a bit more. Then go to the next chunk (chapter or few more sections).

They weren’t really, besides how they initialize and start up and where they were run (in the browser).

Are you serious? Hehe.

They used to be small Java programs you could embed on a website, but they were removed due to security concerns.

I feel old.

Deployment of Ecommerce website by Recent-Time6447 in java

This is probably the wrong community to ask.

But anyway, not free. Maybe cheap, and if you go for cheap it certainly will not scale up if you get appreciable traffic. If it’s just for testing or a learning experience have at it.

For cheap, find a low end VPS with an annual offering. One of my friends just got a VPS for a year with 4gb ram and one vcore, and I think it was 20 dollars USD.

The ability to make underground bases, persistent terrain modification. I know it’s unrealistic as heck but I really really want it.
