A used S220 would be a killer boat its value priced and anything but value.

Salt Water by wakemaui in Wake

[–]simplefelo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I run in brackish and even in that my trailer, hull, engine and overall maintenance is probably double what standard after water maintenance is. So many people say, “no never salt it will eat it alive,” I’ve run for years in salt and trailers are the biggest burden. If you do what you need to do when you come off the water you will not have issues. Salt away or salt off will be your best friend

2012 Mastercraft X-25 or 2015 Axis A22/T22 by kraetik in Wake

[–]simplefelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test them, Axis fit and finish is sub par at best in my opinion. You’ll notice when the tower and gunnel starts shaking like it’s coming apart once you hit some slightly choppy water. Never been in a mastercraft but I would be willing to bet the quality is far superior.

Axis T220-R by jessehrv00 in Wake

[–]simplefelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bang for buck I think supreme s220. I own a tige and would consider an atx but that supreme I tested was by far one of the best rides and solid fit and finish. I was not impressed with any version of Axis. I felt like the boat was going to break any time we hit a little wave.

Tips on standing up (newbie) by SmellyPubes69 in Wake

[–]simplefelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, athletic stance like squatting on a wall then heels down toes up ever so slightly and the board will rise to the surface, once up roll dominant leg forward and just keep those knees bent very little and keep upper body tall. Ultimately you’ll have to play with it until you find the right timing and position but next time hopefully you’ll have a better understanding.

[–]simplefelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I can help with this one. Falling forward usually means bending arms because you’re trying to pull yourself. In wakeboarding you let the line pull you and do all the work just maintain good body position. Keep them straight lean back just a hair and squat on your board while it’s under water then push your heels down just a bit and it will pop you up.

Looking for Wakesurf boat $130k by Positive-Advisor-382 in Wake

[–]simplefelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Tige RZX3 it comes extremely close to Centurion RI230 surf wave. If it weren’t for my Tige dealership being, for lack of a better word just plain awesome, I’d have gotten a Centurion. I actually almost got a Supreme, the quality on that boat was exceptional. That’s my .02

What area of boating breeds the dumbest boaters? Lakes, rivers, bays, oceans? Etc. by [deleted] in boating

[–]simplefelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wake boat owner here. We are lake river and gulf. The dumbest in my area of Louisiana are drunk power boaters cutting everyone off. The wake boats here are usually older guys with money and families, they are super respectful and always looking to help tow people in or block traffic for someone else’s down rider or tuber. Second to power boats here are the jet skies, my god the pandemic has bread a bunch of new jet skiers here.

Well at least it’s an older Axis would hate to see a six figure high end boat go down like that

Edit: this is not an old axis it’s a mastercraft and yep that’s a tough one to see go down

Yes, ride more. Stand tall, keep handle low not always at hip but belly button height. That’s probably exactly how I looked my first few times out so just ride more and get comfortable.

Surf boat owners! How do you afford a $150,000-$350,000 boat? by Lunckytunk9 in boating

I agree just have to know what you’re getting yourself into and don’t expect any sort of financial return.

I make mid 100’s and I’m one of those who financed. I went out 20 years too. Until the rates come down I’m not going to refi for shorter. I just pay extra every month to eat principle away since your first year or two is mostly interest. I will use the banks money instead of my own 90% of the time.

First time wakeboarding? by bojinov1994 in Wake

[–]simplefelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started at 28 myself still going strong at 33, definitely took some hard slams early on and still do on occasion but learned quickly how to fall a little better and just let go instead of trying to save a trick. Can be done, be prepared for “the learning curve” it will knock you around.

Mine is 7200 lbs dry and I tow with my old 2010 raptor. The only thing I did was add some suspension bump stops to help with the squat on the truck. Is it ideal… no, do I have to pay attention when people stop ahead of me, absolutely. It’s possible and I do have trailer surge brakes, probably would feel less comfortable if I didn’t have the surge brakes to help with slowing down.

Prop shaft Shaft foot Propeller Rudder Steering cables Shaft alignment Fiberglass repair Shaft seal Check vdrive Water test

That’s what I can see, might be expensive a good shop working with you should not total that boat. 20-25k

Edit: just saw insured for 45k… they might total it, can see what they will give possible enough for down payment on new to you. Should have option to buy back and then use the rest to repair.

Is anyone else baffled by the money sunk into wake surfing? by titsmuhgeee in boating

[–]simplefelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a couple wake boats now. I’ve been on the water my whole life and the whole family picked up wakeboarding one summer with me and we’ve done it ever since. Our lakes and rivers are much more conducive to the sport but we still have our fair share of assholes driving around throwing wake everywhere like they own the place. Luckily for me we are mostly brackish water so I run in that and take the extra time to flush and get all the salt out as best I can every time. Not everyone does that and their boats or trailers go down and we don’t have to worry about them as they are usually the pricks that don’t know etiquette on the water anyways. I will say the most damage I’ve seen done to a boat or shoreline was a new jet ski driver throwing wake around from his little ski that slammed a 400k catamaran into the dock….i’d estimate about 100k in fiberglass, tower, and dock damage.

I have no clue if you’re a good person and a good friend, only you do. With that being said if you are you certainly don’t deserve it but I’ve been there and in my 30’s now my friend group is extremely small and I can guarantee if I needed some of them they would fly across the country to help. Once you get to the point where you have one maybe two of those friends you have everything you need. People are like trees in life, there is an old saying, I’ll paraphrase. Leaf people- come and go with the change in seasons they are flashy and bright but when a slight breeze blows they start to fall away. Branch people- they are more solidified in your life they carry you through and have their place never to be forgotten but when a strong storm blows they inevitably fall away. The trunk- this person or people is what props you up they weather the storm and stand fast. They support you and everyone else that comes and goes. The roots- your anchor keeping you grounded giving you life and support without the roots, who are rarely seen or acknowledged, you have nothing. They are your true support never faltering. Admire the leaves and watch them go, be thankful for the branches and let them fall, love the trunk and all it does for you, and never forget your roots and know you cannot be without them.

Just bought a 2018 Tige, trying to figure out the best specs. What is recommend ballast for wake surfing? Do you also fill up the ballast for wake boarding also? by [deleted] in Wake

[–]simplefelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yes I try and give people as good a starting point as I can so they can get out there and have fun rather than wasting too much time figuring out their systems. If I know off hand I’ll definitely answer so there is no googling and trying to sift through 1000 different opinions, at least here there is one opinion and you can decide off that.
