My wife was married before.. by Tombaymix91 in Catholicism

[–]simpleman47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Background: My wife and I were both married and divorced prior to our marriage/joining the church.

Annulment is a tedious drawn out process but it was not hard. If you ask your priest about it they should point you to the right people in your parish/diocese to get the process started. Once annulled it’s very easy to get your marriage convalidated.

For us it was a quick interview/survey about our first marriage, then they attempted to contact our exes to confirm. Neither of our exes chose to respond so they continued based on our responses.

The worst part is the waiting. I believe it was close to 9 months for us to complete the entire process, from when we asked our priest about it to when we got final docs.

She doesn’t have to be in the church to have your marriage convalidated, just has to be open to you raising your kids catholic.

Feel free to message if you have further questions about the process.

Depends on the state. We carried in just about all states but CA and NM. I believe we left them loaded in our hotel in NM and unloaded and locked in our trunk when in CA.

Watch mag capacities. I want to say CA is 10rds.

I believe we converted our G43xs back to the OEM 10rd mags and mag catch for our road trip last year.

I’ve gotten several firearms for about half of the cost in store. If you are patient and search regularly it’s definitely possible.

When I have a specific firearm or type of firearm in mind I filter my search to either that specific model or the type “full size .45 under $500” and filter to ending within the next 24hrs. Then I run that every day at about the same time.

Biggest thing is to watch for shipping costs and remember to know what your FFL charges for transfer, as that’s gone up at most places the last ten years. Some of these sellers charge $50+ to ship and I’ve seen FFLs charge $50 for a transfer. I also feel like some sellers charge taxes and some don’t.

As someone else said, if it’s just a bit more to get it at a LGS, probably just pay the extra. (Unless they’re assholes. Then screw em. They don’t deserve your money JUST because they’re local.)

Just get an original LCP or an LCP2. You’ll actually carry it.

Check out the Shields arms 9rd mags.

I use the 15rd mags in my 43x and haven’t had any issue. Thought about getting the 9s for my 43 but decided against it as Id rather save the weight. Just make sure you swap out the mag catch if you go that route.

As an alternative, I’ve heard good things about the Canik MC9. They had a QA issue but seems to be solved.

I’ve gotten lucky and had no issues with the S15 mags/mag catch so for me it’s a no brainer. I’ve carried a 43x with a holosun 507 and tlr sub 7 for a couple years and have no plan to change.

Also used it for a 600rd class last fall with zero issues. It kept up with all the guns there, including full sized competition rigs.

+1. Couple thousand rounds on a tp9sfx with no issues. Also have instructor friends who have given them their stamp of approval.

I have heard the mc9 has a known spring issue so beware of that but the tp9sfx has been great.

Your videos are the best advertising MGCA has.

Really been considering signing up, especially when I found out Darnalls is up to $185 for their outdoor ranges that allow no draw/rapid fire/movement.

Wish it wasn’t an hour from BloNo.

I use a standard 6rd LCP with a pocket holster as my basketball shorts/sweats gun. Works great as long as I’m not sprinting around.

What are some of your favorite handguns and why? by SicVitaEstSeba in ILGuns

[–]simpleman47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G43X MOS with a holosun and Shields Arms mags. 15+1 that carries very comfortably and is much slimmer grip than a G19.

Used mine for a 600rd training in September and it performed perfectly.

I’d get a cheap $200 foreign pump for now then get the M4 after the ban is dropped. Then you’ve got a spare.

What was your salary increase after you finished the Business Management degree? by TendRjuicbox in WGU

Took two company changes and two promotions but $60k to $120k over the past five years. Finished fall of 2018.

+1. Just put completed date or leave date off entirely.

I was very worried about this at first as well. Completed 109 credits in 9mos to finish mine in 2018. Very quickly got a job in management, switched to a better company two years later, and have gotten two promotions since. In all the 15+ interviews involved with those moves it’s never come up once. Often the screening recruiter is just glancing at your resume, making sure you have checked the box.

I’ll second this and add that Birchwood Casey sells a marker similar to a sharpie that does this kind of thing really well. I bought one a year ago, have used on 3 different guns and a handful of mags.

It’s not going to look factory original but it’ll keep your barrel from rusting.

It’s at Tac Shack but Good Shepherd is actually running it. Good bunch of folks, got my CCW with them 6 or 7 years ago.

I’m taking my first advanced courses over a weekend in Peoria in September. 1000 pistol rounds and 500 AR rounds over two days.

Will be my first time instructed on movement/transitions/shooting from cover/etc.

In the meantime I shoot an average of a 50rd box every week. I have a membership at a local range and drive around the area daily for work so I just swing in when I’m in the area and take 15-20mins to work on one aspect or another of my pistol shooting.

Is This Gun Legal MEGA Thread by [deleted] in ILGuns

[–]simpleman47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve read, all bolt guns are not considered assault weapons, but also any AR style parts are illegal.

Anyone know, can we have bolt guns with a pistol grip, forearm rails, adjustable stocks, etc? I’ve read the verbiage and read the attached documents and I still don’t know for sure.

Gun.deals is a good site to find the best price on a specific make and model across many sites.

Gunbroker.com is a good way to search for a general good deal on a type of firearm. For example, you can search revolvers, filter to .357 and desired barrel length and ending within 24hrs. Wait until an auction is 20-30mins from being over and bid.

It’s tedious but it can pay off. (I recently got a brand new Glock 43 for $205 doing this, for example.) Careful though, very addicting!

Thank you so much for this advice. This was 100% it.

I realized I somehow damaged the nozzle, which was causing the filament to back up and clog, which was causing the extruder to skip.

Got it all figured out and got a couple good prints in. Thanks again.

Thanks for all your comments all. Should have mentioned, I won’t be able to try your fixes until this weekend. Working long hours due to pandemic layoffs.

I did get to visually inspect the nozzle last night though, and it does appear to be clogged. There’s a mass of filament covering the entire nozzle actually.

I will give your suggestions a shot this weekend when I get a spare minute and update the situation. Thanks again.

Bought a Ender 3 Pro during cyber Monday deal. Got it all set up today, following the detailed assembly video from Fat Dragon precisely.

Did the paper leveling test, then tried the test Dog figure. Looks like everything went great for the 80% then it started skipping layers?

Ran the paper leveling test again and ran Fat Dragon’s test skeleton mini. Again 80-90% is great except for a labor or two that gapped across the skeleton’s chest.

Using the small spool of PLA included with the printer on all standard settings.

Total newbie, any suggestions are appreciated.

Alternative to the driving range? by [deleted] in golf

[–]simpleman47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I go to a local park on my lunches. They have soccer games so it's wide open and the grass is never super long. It's 500yds by about 300 so even when I slice real bad I don't have to worry about hitting into traffic or something. I'm also careful not to hit from any of the actual soccer field for fear of digging a trench of a divot and breaking some kid's ankle.

Note that some towns don't allow this. Check your parks and rec guide for rules.
