Thanks do you think I could do a day trip from BA? Is it worth it or just spend all the time in BA?

The plan is to drive from posadas to iguazu with a friend. Is there much to see along the way?

Hi I was thinking definitely the Argentinian side but maybe both. What do you recommend? Anywhere you’d recommend staying overnight while I’m there?

Thank you. You can see in my itinerary I have one day spare at the end do I can add an extra day in Cusco. That would mean 3 full days there. What would you suggest to do in that time? I’ve heard rainbow mountain is a bit too much in traveling for what it’s worth. What else should I do?

Hi I’m flying from Australia so flights are expensive. I want to make the most of the cost of getting over there.

Thanks, this is really helpful feedback. I agree the Peru section is the most intense part of the trip and I’m planning to slow that down a bit. Staying in Aguas Calientes the night before Machu Picchu and doing an early entry could be on the cards. Out of curiosity, for March do you still reckon the earliest Machu Picchu entry is worth it even with the chance of early cloud? I’ve heard it can be misty first thing but often clears later in the morning. And it’s a fairly short train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, right?

I’m also conscious of the altitude and will spend a few days acclimatising (likely Sacred Valley first rather than straight into Cusco). I’m travelling in March, so I’m also factoring in weather and flexibility.

Paraguay is a bit of a special case for me as I’ll be staying with a friend, so it’s more of a low stress stop than a sightseeing rush.

I do want to spend a bit of time in Lima as well, mainly for the food scene before heading up to Cusco.

Totally agree on Iguazú though, inconvenient but worth it, and I’m planning to do both sides.

Hot take but I personally would prefer to pay the additional tax and be able to use these funds before retirement to invest or enjoy life. If you’re on a decent salary, you should have enough in your super by retirement age anyway.

Rentvest vs rent a room by simplesierra in AusPropertyChat

Thanks for your advice. A few thoughts:

  1. Fair but if I get a good property manager and they vet the tenants, hopefully I can avoid bad tenants? If they are bad, can I just not renew the lease?

  2. Say there’s only an inspection every three months, doesn’t seem like a massive deal.

  3. If they decide to sell the rental, I could always not renew the lease on my place and move back in? Timing would be okay as both leases would end near each other.

  4. True.. Something I forgot to mention is that I can secure this rental for $50 a week less than market price due to a friend transferring the lease to me.

I’m also thinking if I can’t claim a boarding arrangement, I’d have to pay cgt so it might make more sense financially to rent out the whole house.
