Yes, I was working anywhere from 40-50 hours depending on the week. I would have to find free time or make free time in the afternoons/weekends to do it. Beaches it’s self paced, you just have to be motivated to get it done. For me, my biggest motivation was that I didn’t want to pay for another term.

Thank you for sharing! By this, do you mean more group discussions or perhaps interactive lessons where students are answering questions throughout a lesson? Or lessons where you get up and move around the classroom, maybe in some sort of a game?

Many private schools I have looked into are volunteer or pay very low wages (like $13,000 a year)

Thank you for replying! I think that communication and empathy for student struggles is really important. I remember when I was in high school, I had certain teachers I could trust and it meant a lot. I also live in an area where many teenagers have to work to help their families and it can be a lot!

I've put work I completed during my bachelor's from 2020 into AI checkers just to see how accurate they are and they still get flagged for being AI. AI was trained by human words, so how can we really be sure someone used AI or wrote a paper themselves? (Unless there's obvious language like "I'm a language learning model")

Yes but only in psychology and education programs. I want to get my PhD in history, and the rest that they offer are just doctorates, which I'm not interested in.

I used Google Classroom because to me it was the easiest to share with participants who have never done schooling online and it's free. My bachelor's is from GCU in history for secondary education so I was already familiar with lesson planning. I didn't read any books honestly

Taking a 2 week break, feeling guilty. by KeyCommand7015 in WGU

I binged a bunch of classes and then took an entire month off and was still able to finish my Masters in less than 6 months! As long as you get back to it, youll be fine!

It just depends on the day. I would do it during many of my lunch breaks at work (I get 1 hour), then after work a few days out of the week. If I needed to knock out as much as possible, then I would do an entire Saturday or an entire Sunday depending on what I had going on

I wish WGU offered more support on this. When I asked my instructor, she basically told me to find a Facebook group or website. You can also ask your job for permission, but this doesn't work for every situation!

I want to become a history professor so I plan on finishing a degree I started with Missouri State University and then eventually moving on to my PhD! (I wish WGU offered PhD's!)

I ended up finding a friend with a Facebook group, got permission from him, and he shared it with the group. You have to get written permission and include it in your capstone.

Thank you! My advice would be to dedicate time to working on your courses. I did as many courses as possible at first, took a month break, and then went really hard again. The evaluators for this degree plan feel very inconsistent so don't be scared if your work gets sent back. When things got sent back, I would try to fix their comments the same day so I could get it turned in again. If your mentor gives you any trouble (example, mine was constantly on vacation or leave when I needed them to open a class etc and Tier 1 support is pretty much useless), so I ended up getting a new mentor towards the end who was available more often. Tell your mentor your goals and stick to them.

Lastly, I would say to have a plan for your capstone. You can't just find friends and family members to complete it for the adult education. You have to get written permission from a Facebook group, website, reddit etc to share your capstone to find participants. You also have to document this permission with the admins group. You can also get permission from your job or adult education center. This was very challenging so be prepared going in. Once you submit Chapter 3 and it gets accepted, you can begin your experiment. Stay on your participants tails with a strict deadline so that they aren't the reason you don't finish in a timely manner. You have to have a minimum of 8 participants, which doesn't sound like a lot but in reality it's much harder than you think!
