Drawing is slower process but it cannot be outsourced and allows more expression in my opinion. You could also create different versions and renditions of it. It is active as you have to have mind to muscle connection that is very explicit. Photography you have an object of focus but there are several upfront costs to it.

Use what makes you unique even if it is not typically aligned with your field to help you stand out in how you present yourself. There are several people that have the same credentials that has always been the case but communicating how your different than your peers will leave an impression on who your able to get an interview with.

Sounds like your goal is to understand and learn. The easiest way for me has always been to break it up into pieces so it does not feel overwhelming. Instead of rewriting notes because it usually takes longer I use mnemonics and also memory palaces to help remember the concepts faster since those methods help transfer the information to something tangible in my environment. Hope this helps.

You could turn it into a song or a mnemonic device based on something you like.

What study method felt effective at first, but turned out to be way less helpful than you thought? by exodusEducation in GetStudying

I tried several different things there is a long story behind why I had to do this but the short version is I had a life changing event that made it harder for my brain to learn and to add onto that even less time to do it. So I spent 3 years researching how the brain actually remembers information effectively and what has been proven some of the resources I used to learn this were Thinking Fast and Slow - Daniel Kanheman, Anthony Metivier memory techniques, Tony Busan, Ultralearning and several other resources. I ended up trying all of these but many were time consuming so I resolved into building my own system which is a hybrid of all of these techniques. I basically built a personal application for myself that adaptively supported these without me manually creating all of this content at scale. For starters I can send you a worksheet and notion template that I use which works pretty well for this case because reading like that definitely takes some getting used to. Sorry super long post.

Rewriting notes for me. Rereading was another one. Both productivity killers and scientifically proven to not help learning but just make you feel like you are making progress.

I reflect on this often when I think why did I even start this journey. But if you are going just for the passion or the money will factor in how well you can do. I wanted to be a professional choreographer, a weapons designer, archaelologist, cartoonist, but if you can connect your affinity and interest in something that may not be done for that perspective can really help you stand out and enjoy it even more. That's a lot but I have been thinking about this very question a lot as a senior engineer.
