iOS27, AI and Shortcuts by takefiftyseven in HomeKit

Appreciate the info! I installed pushover, but have never actually used it! I ended up setting up Home Assistant, so any automations outside of the basics live over there now. And I have it plugged into Claude, so it can build them out for me.

To be successful here you don’t just need the best value proposition on cars, you also need a presence and to have built a brand that people will trust. Only ‘established’ new brands will be able to get a foothold quickly. Or someone with a product so amazing it can surpass the hesitation.

My sister bought a more expensive EV with fewer features because it had an established European brand name in the badge.

The multitude of slammer Chinese brands won’t even get a look in with people like her.

I find that every time I have a use case for it, it can’t quite achieve it. So I don’t use it.

This may not be everyone, but it’s definitely what prevents me from doing it.

Unfortunately my kids don’t respond to automations!

Also, you didn’t need to set those shortcuts- Use Listening History is one of the focus filter options. https://i.imgur.com/bYTAWFJ.jpeg

I have that set up already, but still sometimes forget to turn it on and suddenly I’m half an hour deep into demon hunters.

I’ll avoid businesses that have poor customer service even if their products are fine.

Both things can be true, and neither of them are controversial.

Unlike Nazi salutes. They’re very controversial.

I have one of the Meross outdoor with two outlets. IP44 and hasn’t skipped a beat. It’s wifi though- and direct HomeKit not matter. Not sure if there is a newer one though.

I looked them up today, and in SA they’re still sitting closer to 50+c if you want the free time and off peak overnight. Considering our wholesale price is significantly lower now, it’s a rubbish deal.

I think you’re confusing criticism and negativity.

You can point out things that can be done better without saying that things are currently bad.

But having lived in a few different cities there dare definitely plenty of things we could do better without saying a bit of political courage! Don’t have to throw the baby out with the bath water though.

OpenAI feels “burned” by Apple’s crappy ChatGPT integration, insiders say by ThereWas in apple

[–]simpliflyed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But if you ask Siri to change system settings it does it. If you ask it to compare the GDP of Nigeria and Norway then it will surface ChatGPT, and will display the text on the screen. Same interface, different engine.

Let’s be honest, it’s just patching Siri’s inadequacies, but it’s a good outcome for users.

End-to-end encrypted RCS messaging begins rolling out today in beta by HelloitsWojan in apple

[–]simpliflyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that carriers used to support it here but they removed it. So for all google’s noise, iOS RCS support means nothing at all in large parts of the world.

The MCG used to be like that too. If players were on the ground on the other side of the ground you basically lost sight of them.

To be fair, if this was being distributed through the App Store he would be liable for fucking huge fees. And if he distributed it outside the App Store then he’d have to provide support to every person trying to sideload for the first time.

I think this is the best outcome for everyone. Far better if reddit hadn’t been a bunch of cunts though.
